Why the hell is Brock and Bryd even in the IBF elimination tournament?

you have to actually pay the IBF to get a mandatory position at any weight and byrd will get about 6 to 8 million tv viewer`s on saturday night approx.

 

do you beleive that 6 to 8 million viewers for a byrd fight is good or bad numbers ?

that would equate to 20 million plus viewers if you equal the populations up
between germany and usa.

i obviously do not know much about cbs/nbc/abc tv , but surely they could find a slot to show boxing.

i presume they have subsidary channels .

how about espn showing it on a day delay ?

just as an example in the uk alone we have 7 sports only channels pay per month
sky sports 1 to 4
eurosport 1 and 2
setanta sports
then we have abc type channels free to air which have boxing slots , some at the most obscure times but they still show boxing for the die hard.

 

I didn't say these specifically were exciting matches, but that it has forced rematches of exciting fights in the past where the champ won narrowly and didn't want to risk fighting the person again. Don't twist around what I was saying.

 

It does seem a bit nuts for both Byrd and Brock to be so close to yet another shot at the guy who just took each one out in grand fashion, yes...........

...............there are only so many contenders to keep all four titleholders fighting, and keep in mind that each organization can't intrude and name one fighter as their mandatory when another organization already has him as their mandatory, you are obviously going to end up having to recycle already beaten opponents, and push undeserving fighters to the top before they should be. That's just the math of it, when you have to have four seperate mandatories either being named, or outright fighting in an eliminator, all the time.

Yet another reason why unification is so important, so needed, and so overdue, for the ailing heavyweight divsion.

 

The fighters who are more deserving for the shot at Wlad are already tied up in the other three organizations.


Now that all four titles are apart, and all four organizations avoid each others' champion and mandatories, you have to view the heavyweight division in four seperate factions that occasionally trade fighters. That's the only way to see it as it is; four mini heavyweight divisions. And when you have four mini organizations, obviously, the level of opposition will decline in each one, as opposed to having only one titleholder, and one mandatory, who would be the most deserving....

They may not deserve it, but the bright side is Povetkin and Chambers may very well eliminate BOTH:good

 

Yeah, if you look at what they have to do, its not like they are just right there ready to get their shot.

-Brock would have to first et by Chambers (no small feat) and then the best man between Byrd and Povetkin.(a very hard thing to do).........

-Byrd will obviously have to get by Povetkin (very tough fight for anyone0, and then the Brock Chambers winner (another tough fight).

So as I see it, I retract my previous statement saying its nuts that they are so close to another shot. They are not really that close, seeing as how in order to get another shot at the IBF (keep in mind this is only one title/one fourth of THE championship,so its not really that valuable in the grand scheme of things), they'll have to win two consecitive, very tough fights.

So I would say that whomever wins this little tourney, will be fairly deserving, be it Brock, Byrd, Povetkin, or Chambers. These guys have some tough oppoents to get past, first. Credit to the winner.:good I'd say whomever that is does deserve another shot at one fourth of the title.
