This I fear is also true my friend. But then why not just take the huge amount of money being offered by Hearn and beat his fighter in spectacular fashion. It really seems stupid that both mens primes are being wasted simply because some on one side do not like one person on the other side.

Those truly were the very wisest of words my friend. It may be that Mr Frampton is contractually bound to put up with the foolishly arrogant and petulant McGuigans and any attempt to break from them may result in a legal proceeding which stunts Framptons career in much the same way that some of the prime of the superb Mr Andre Wards career was lost due to legal action filed by the late Mr Goosen.

You finally made a post without GGG in it, and a good
    one at that. Amazing!
I also think Frampton/Quigg is long overdue, but the two
sides won't budge on venue so it's going to marinate for
    a while.

You are probably on to something as I know Quigg and Frampton are themselves actually on decent terms with each other. There is certainly no genuine animosity between the two fighters. Whilst I agree that Frampton is entitled to at least a half share I am not part if the negotiations. Surely it makes more sense to take the 1.5 or maybe negotiate it up to 2million then to get nothing. Say the fight clears 10 million which personally I doubt as that equates to 500 thousand buys at 15 pounds per ppv buy plus the gate money. Sky will take a large chunk then you have all other expenses such as the hiring of the arena undercard fighters wages and it would need to be a good undercard because that fight by itself does not do half a milion buys in the UK and it does nothing abroad. ATGs like Hagler and the like were often compelled to take less. Look at Marvins fight with SRL. Leonard earned more than Marvin and he was the challenger who had never fought in years. Yet Hagler took it because he believed he would win and it was the biggest payday by far available to him. Do you get my point. Frampton is going to blow a mega payday probably the biggest of his career and for what because he doesnt like Hearn. That is foolish.

    .

I note with interest that you used the past tense when referring to the job McGuigan has done. I agree McGuigan DID do a good job for Frampton. But now he is clearly doing an awful job. Consider this. Quigg fights Martinez and gets beat. Where does that leave Frampton. Forget about a Quigg fight that would be worth peanuts as it couldnt possibly be a PPV bout then. Rigo no chance. Whilst clearly the best in the division Rigo is not a big enough name to get the causal punter to fork out money to watch. And Rigo would beat Frampton. LSC wont take a Frampton fight. And Frampton cant move up to Featherweight. Lomachenko Walters and others would hammer Frampton. Frampton would be fighting on Box Bation for 150-200 thousand purses at best. Two to three fights per year that means it would take Carl 2 1/2-5 years to make 1.5 million . Dont forget Frampton is 29 these are his peak years. And hes blowing them.

Your right the cheque bo!!ocks was stupid and Eddie is a pompous prat. But he is the only man putting up an offer. I dont hear McGuigan or anyone else matching or beating it. If Frampton thinks he is entitled to more how come no one else is putting their money where their mouth is and offering it to him. So Eddie may make a lot of money. If im Frampton I say so what. Eddie may also have overestimated just how many people want to pay to watch the fight. Outside of hardcore boxing fans no one knows either fighter so the causal punter wont buy it. Carl should take Eddies money beat Scott then hold all the cards when the time for rematch talks take place. THEN as a millionaire Carl would be on a more firmer financial footing and could dictate whatever terms he chooses. It is terrible business by his entire team to be honest.

not quite. cyclone were specific throughout that they wanted a co-promotion, a demand to which matchroom wouldn't concede. barry desperately wants to get his foot in the sky boxing door, fast car's having none of it.

you've got that 1 wrong. ward sued goosen to try to get out of his contract, failed, signed an extension to that contract, then tried to sue again, and failed again. there's only 1 man to blame for the loss of ward's prime.

If McGuigan hadnt wasted his time with BoxNation and actually showed that he can handle a ppv promotion without getting hysterical about it Eddie couldnt stop him. Eddie through his Dad got his foot in the door but he has proved himself to be a capable and successful promoter. Yes he is a prat and at times I despair of his cheesy bs but he is good at his job.

I may well have got the plaintiff and defendant in the wrong order and I stand corrected thank you Antonio. But in this case the fact that Ward felt compelled to sue Goosen on numerous occasions to get out of his contract proves the point that even if Frampton was unhappy with McGuigan then there is not much he can do about it if he wants to remain active during his prime years.

Your bang on about some of the dross being shown on Sky. Any half decent fight on Sky is now ppv and no other channel seems interested in taking them on. Not so long ago if someone had suggested that a Frampton Quigg fight should be ppv they would have been laughed at. Its just the way things are now im afraid but to be honest I dont mind it. It means that Frampton can now turn his nose up at 1.5million for what is effectively a British Title fight when not too long ago neither of these guys would have made 1.5million during their entire boxing career. I think its great that boxers are now earning a lot more money.

there's always the "not signing an extension to a contract you don't like" option. goosen did pretty well for ward.

There most certainly is. And im not slagging Dan off but the Super 6 should have catapulted Ward to supers****om and instead Ward felt compelled to try numerous times to get out of his contract and sit in a commentators chair instead of putting his outstanding talent on show and earning millions at the same time . Pretty sad all round.

Which is why would Eddie not want to give any concessions regarding promotional rights. Barry is on the outside looking in so why go all diva about it. If Hearn has an exclusive deal with Sky and McGuigan is aware of this why insist on a concession he knows wont ever be agreed to. Just further proof off the poor job McGuigan is doing for Frampton.
