So, now that Wlad is above and beyond the most dominant HW champion we've seen in years and has been so for the past six years, seeming to get better and better, more dominant in every fight... we're starting to get idiots come out and say he's boring and afraid because he doesn't take chances to stop opponents early? These are the same people who point out with delight that Wlad doesn't have a great level of punch resistance. The same people who say every fight "Wlad's chin will get wrecked". It's so ****ing ******ed, I barely believe it. Wlad takes steps to improve himself as a boxer and minimize the amount of shots he takes, due to having a lower punch resistance than say his brother, this is called being smart and effectively covering a weakness. When he does this, despite maintaining a KO percentage higher than 95% of boxers at HW level, he's a boring fighter because he doesn't allow other people to hit him. How ****ing stupid do you have to be to perpetuate this argument.
I agree largely. I don't criticize Wlad for what he is doing, I give him credit for what he is doing and recognise his level of consistent performance. I don't particularly enjoy to watch him though.
Wlad is the best ever. His valor and courage in the ring are only equaled by his tremendous stamina and granite chin.
He is boring. He throws the jab 95% of the time. He has no real competition except a brother that he will not fight (not blaming him as I wouldnt either). Sorry that some people find your hero boring. Get over it.
Wlad is a gutless "fighter" who clinches and hugs onto fighters instead of producing the exciting fights fans want to see. He's the most boring heavyweight in boxing history.
He is doing what he is supposed to do. He is boring, but it's not his fault, only because he is few levels above his opponents so it's always one sided beating, while casual fans want to see intrigue and rumble. It was funny to hear after Ortiz-Maidana from same people who say Wlad is boring: "why Ortiz haven't used hid jab?", "why Ortiz being more skillful went to war with Maidana?".
He's working in behind the jab, setting up the right hand and dropping guys who are as good as any other fighter out there except him. Larry Holmes did something similar, yet he was adored by American fans - I wonder why?
Exact****ingly. Or when Cotto lost to Margarito "Cotto shouldn't have traded as much, he should have used his jab" or when Oscar lost to Floyd "Why didn't Oscar use his reach and jab more?"
Hermit has it right when he says that Wlad is the only fighter who is criticized for using his jab effectively.
Bingo, that's the way a Champion fights. The problem with WALDO is, whenever he tries to fight like that he gets KO'd so he's now adopted the ultra cautious approach. I don't blame him for doing it as he's got money to earn and shaky whiskers to protect. What I do resent is his fanboys acting like he's beating stellar competition using this style, because he isn't.
