It's as simple as this: 1-both guys fouled but only one got penalized for leaning. He ducked his head. So that means you can hit the back of it???????? That's BS! What about the body slam with all the rabbit punches? How about hitting after the break and bell? 2-style wise the running was getting frustrating but from the first round you could see dirrelle was way too fast for froch. Froch even at one point missed a punch and paused and shruged at dirrelle and was gettig frustrated with hitting thin air. Someone said what type of defence is running? Well what type of defence is no defence/face? Froch gets the advantage of bein the aggressor though and he wanted to trade. But that is part and not all of Boxing. Styles makes fights in this one, one guy wanted to trade and the other wanted to style it out....both failed and made the fight quite shite and dirty but generally one can say Froch was made to look the aggresor who was made to look clumsy by a guy too slick for him but who also needed to be aggressive a little too...before round 10 3-all meaningful punches came from Dirrelle and froch didn't land that many but he did land some which hurt dirrelle but not as much as dirrelle who did stun froch and sent him to the ropes 4-the argument that you have to take the belt from the champ fair enough, but the champ has to defend it too. If the guy runs and makes out like he don't want to fight yet still counters, and lands the best shots but the champ hits air most of the time dies he get the points and still keep his belt for aggression without landing anything of significance? Strange. But it's done now and if dirrelle stops running and start adding power to his shots (he has a decent left) he could look better in the future. Froch is a good aggressor but no good defence but solid chin mind, but what a rubbish jab. He's right that him and kessler would be a good fight a good trade off but does he think he can survive it? I'm trying to think if he has improved or worsened since the previous two fights? Pascal fight was good and it showed he could take solid punches rift on the kisser and Taylor fight showed grit and heart and determination but something tells me he ain't moving on from that as if to say that is his legacy and he doesn't need to change anything.... I can see now why calzaghe didn't bother with froch, because even with his slaps, his speed and punch volume would have knocked the guy out(but not as likely due to less power) or been another lacy event! I'm actually thinking I would like to see RJJ with Froch....he would school the **** out of him...
I love how none of the Croch lovers mention that Dirrel landed more shots (easily) that were harder and more effective (easily) and had Croch desperatly hurt at the end of a round. I'm not saying that Dirrel looked like a champion, but Croch barely landed anything and deserved to lose without a doubt.
Froch won 5 rounds at the very most. Dirrell fought shamefully but still landed more clean punches in more rounds which is the number one criteria for judging a round. I would also say that Dirrell dictacted the pace of the fight (ring generalship) and obviously had better defense. So what's the argument for a Froch win if you're judging on the actual criteria judge a fight? Especially since Dirrell won in every category (clean punches, ring generalship, defence). Overall it was lackluster but clear win for Dirrell.
I agree that you should have to take a champ's title, ie, beat him convincingly, and Dirrell didn't do that. I thought he won on the scorecards by a point, maybe two. But it didn't surprise me at all that Froch got the nice decision. What I will say, it that Froch revealed himself as a truly limited fighter last night. A brawler? Maybe, but not even a very good one. Abraham, for instance, is much quicker and much stronger than Froch. The man (Froch) certainly didn't win any fans last night and he failed to impress just about anyone. Make all the excuses you want, but Froch was fighting in his hometown against the least experiences fighter in the tournament and he barely squeezed out a split decision. His chances against Kessler? Slim and none.
Didn't Dirrel get marked up and a bloody face? Froch just looked like he went for a jog. The only one close to getting Ko'ed was Dirrel when Froch landed on him and Dirrels body went into meltdown, he wouldnt let go of Froch and the ref had to use a spatula to prise him apart. Dirrels feather fists had no effect on Froch, even on any of the 2 flush shots he landed all fight. Froch out jabbed him, was teh aggressor, he roughed him up and rightly so. All Dirrel could do was run, fall, cry, beg and pot shot, not the actions of a world champion. Justice was done and rightly so.
