I would first like to state that i have the utmost respect for the Klitschkos as they are good fighters that fight to their strengths and very shrewd businessmen who have made their name on their own terms. They do not further the caus eof the heavyweight division thoguh for the following reason.

The fact that they wont fight each other is understandable but hampers the sports ability to flourish.

The klitschko's ability to draw consistently large numbers in Germany hurts the divison because:

1 Rather than being global ambassadors for the sport which is essentially the unwritten obligation of the heavyweight champion they are content at staying at home

2 The large amount they can draw in Germany means that they can afford select opponents who pose less of a risk, negotiate a better purse for themselves. Why fight david Haye for 50% who is higher risk when they can fight Sosnowski for 90% and still draw the same numbers

3 As a result of all of the belts (- the WBA) being in the Klitschko's possesion it means that fighters in America and elsewhere struggle to gain recognition/popularity and and this leads to little known heavyweight contenders which perpetuates pints 1 and 2 above

What a steaming pile of shite.

Many champions who can do so stay based in one country. How often did Roy Jones fight outside the US? Mayweather?

It's not even true of the Klitschkos however. Vitali has fought 5 of his last 10 fights in the US, only 4 in Germany.

I especially laugh at this point which seems to essentially say 'Americans should always be the best heavyweight fights, if anyone of another nationality happens to be better they should retire or stop trying so hard.'

I'm not the Klitschko's biggest fan but I don't think they're making the division worse. I wouldn't really want to see two brothers fight each other - it just feels wrong.

Sosnowski aside, their joint level of competition has been excellent over the past few years. They've fought pretty much everyone they should have.

Wlad's style is boring as **** - but it's up to another fighter to get in there and make him change. If no-one's good enough to do that, then that's not really his problem. I wish he'd fight more like he did when he fought Mercer but even if he did, I very much doubt he'd suddenly turn into a huge star in the states.

They both fight in America as well as Germany and I think either brother would fight haye in Britain if the deal was right, so I don't really know how much more "global" they can realistically be.

Yeah, this thread is fail. they travel to the United States consistently for fighters that are draws, i.e. Vitali going to LA to fight Arreola. They follow the money, and even though Albert Sosnoski was a bum, looking at the rest of the division, who exactly was there to fight? Haye negotiations are slow, Potvetkin negotiations are also slow, Valuev doesn't like the money offer, Wlad had beaten Chambers, both have beaten Peter, Adamek just got done beating Arreola, Chargeuv had just beaten Meehan, and Solis had also come off a fight, So really there was nobody out there that was much better and available than Sosnoski.

Of course fighters are expected to fight in the country that they draw most but the problem is they could put him in with a ****** with a rattle and 60 000 will turn up to watch. Thats why they can drive such a hard bargain.

So you've identified that they are extraordinarily popular.

We've established that they fight in two of the biggest boxing markets in the world (Germany and the USA).

You haven't really established any fights that they have shied away from making.

And you think this is a 'problem'?

Explain how it would be better for boxing if they drew crowds of 3000 in a small shed somewhere.

Didn't bother to read all and stopped after the first line of point "#2. So you're saying they can afford to take the easiest options available?, please mention the guys they shouldn't overlook then. Some people here make it seem like the division is packed with Muhammad Ali, Foremans and Fraziers that the Klitschkos are scared to death from. Please mention them and wake us up.

I don't think the Klitschko brothers are making the heavyweight scene worse. It is not their fault that the competition available to them sucks. I mean, have you seen who is available out there? They have beaten everyone that has been put in front of them, and the ones that are left are not stepping up to the plate. Valuev, the Russian Sloth, wants a ridiculous amount of money because he knows Vitali will crush him. Povetkin has been number one contender for way too long, he's just scared to get in the ring with Wlad. As far as Haye is concerned, forget him. He talked a lot of garbage, but when the brothers called him out, he suddenly got quiet.

I don't blame the brothers for not fighting each other. I can understand that completely and respect that. What is ruining the heavyweight scene is not the Klitschko brothers, but the lack of competition available. I mean, come on, the last time any of the brothers was in a real war was Vitali's loss to Lennox Lewis, the last great heavyweight fight (please correct me if I am wrong).

Who is the premier American heavyweight right now? Arreola, that taco-eating, lackluster training *******? How about Eddie Chambers? He got left draped over the bottom ropes. Kevin Johnson? He talks all his crap, but feather-fisted ass did nothing against Vitali.

So let's not blame the brothers, let's blame the fact that no one is in their league right now.

The Klitschko Brothers are not making the heavyweight division worse. If there were no Klitschko's right now there would be no heavyweight division. Granted everyone like the "man" to rule the division meaning just one bad ass guy well we get two of them.

It takes more than two fighters to stink up a whole division! Hopefully someday some of these guys will learn how to box.
