I don't think the average boxing fan knows much about the heavyweight division in the US. All they know about it Mayweather, Pacquiao, Broner and Alverez.

It's funny when Klitschko fanboys act like the both brothers are one person and their achievements together count as one. It's also funny how they all think that if anyone isn't a fan of them the only possible reason that they aren't fans of them is because they are racist against white people and/or hate eastern Europe. This fanboys are by far the most delusional set of fanboys in boxing.

    :yep

They are so delusional they actually believe the Klits would be more popular if they were Black:lol: and that Blacks have it made in the shade in the US:nut

Hatred is a motherfu.cker...it can twist anything into a pretzel.

if wlad were a white american champ, he'd be a household name. no american media is going to admit a guy from the former soviet union is better than any american.

I saw a few posts above that Freedom said that people who don't like Klitschkos only like black boxers.........funny thing is I am a fan of Vitali but not Wlad, and I also like Golovkin, Kovalev, Martinez, Mattysshe, Maidana, Spzilka, Garcia, Pacquiao, Froch to an extent, Kessler, and many other fighters who ARE NOT white.

Just like most of the times, the truth is probably somewhere in between. There are fans of explosive boxing and it's natural that they don't like Wladimir's style. They want to see war and that's something they won't see in the heavyweight title fight until Wladimir is gone. It doesn't have anything to do with boxers' nationality.

On the other hand, there are media and fans that don't like the situation where the main scene of boxing's premier division is moved from the United States to Germany. That's why they are far more popular and appreciated in Europe than in the US.

Of course, there are nationalistically oriented people especially on the forum that support or hate boxers mostly based on their nationality or perhaps race. Those guys mostly constantly bash the fighters they hate while constantly praising the fighters they support and that's where the most of insulting and forum wars happen. It's not only the case for Klitschkos, there are obviously people who constantly bash the likes of Mayweather based on the same thing (not saying that he's based only by that certain category of people though, but surely there are guys who would support him if the case was different despite his behavior). So yeah, there is a little bit of everything mixed up in general, extent goes up with the popularity of course.

As for "Lack of quality heavyweights", that's not really an option, as you can't dislike someone because there is nobody in the division who can challenge him. That's just a phrase used by people to discredit, bash or disrespect certain boxer. Again, it's not the case only with Wladimir Klitschko.

Also, an important thing is the hype that surrounds certain boxer or certain fight. It mostly reflects on people who don't usually follow boxing, so called casuals. For example, mostly everyone in the US were aware that Mayweather vs. Canelo was happening and of course they paid attention. But in Europe, nobody was aware of that fight happening because nobody has ever heard of Canelo and Mayweather. On the contrary, everyone knew that Klitschko vs. Povetkin was happening because it was daily promoted on the television. You consider that, and then you can understand the situation where in Germany if you ask a casual who is better Felix Sturm between Sergio Martinez, they will respond "Sturm is the world champion, who the hell is Martinez?".

Like I said, there's usually a little bit of everything in the mix, at least that's my opinion.

far closer to the truth than most. obviously you can't explain something complex in a couple paragraphs or less without generalising.

Except that Kovalev and GGG are appreciated by the vast majority of posters. Ditto Provodnikov. Lomachenko, Usyk, Beterbiev and Shafikov all receive positive notice on this site.

And it's not like Federov and company aren't highly regarded when it comes to hockey.

most fans despised federov, konstantinor, still do ovechkin, etc. the general public doesn't know any of those fighters, and never will. you are confusing this site for the general media.
