To be fair, lewis won on stoppage but it was a very bad one. :tired Ironic, i think 90% of the brits who claim it was legit, think that the Froch-Groves stoppage was bad :!:  atsch
I never said he dominated Wladimir, I said he MOPPED THE CANVAS WITH GRABIMIR. Wladimir faced a crude journeyman who had lost three of his four last bouts, a cherry pick who had a relatively good chin, and Wladimir LOST to him. Those are the cold hard facts. I never said he was dominated, I never said he'd lose to Ross 10/10 times, but 24-13-1 Ross Purrity wiped his bum with 24-0 Wladimir.
Ugh... Groves didn't have half of his face torn off like Vitalaevus. Completely different stoppages, one was legitimate, even Vitali himself has said he's happy today about the stoppage because it could've ended his career.
Who pissed in your Cornflakes, sweetie? Way too defensive there. Is there are an unwritten rule on here that prohibits one from posting bits of info? Apologies if so. And Ruiz out boxed or beat Lewis up in sparring, not knocked him out. Ed Robinson of Sky Sport's fame was in the gym that day and spoke about it on the Sky Sports Toe-To-Toe podcast show.
Like I said earlier, Wlad and Vitali would both have several losses if they had fought in the 90s. Bowe of the first Holyfield fight would rough them both up on the inside. Prime Lewis would KTFO Wlad, and beat Vitali even worse than he did.
There's no question Wlad gassed against Purrity. It was the first time he'd been past 8 rounds before and he'd been pounding on the teak-tough Purrity all night.
So Wlad was gassed after just 8 rounds of fighting against a crude journeyman, how is this possible for a superior modern athlete?
Wlad didn't gass, he was simply hurt. his chin is his big weakness and he forgot to protect it. Despite this I would repeat that Wlad is pretty good at what he does, minimising danger by running, wrestling plus some jabbing until his handpicked half tank opponent gasses, then moving into finish them. Its a formula he works well which is why I rate him as pretty good especially in longevity stakes. it takes a lot of effort to deliver that for 10 years. I just find it difficult to rate wlad as very good. This does nothing to affect the deep respect I have for the Ks for many aspects of their careers.
I came across an example last night of what irritates me about Wlad. First Peter fight...it was a good fight where Peter was generally outboxed but he was landing some stiff shots on Wlad and had him down once legitimately. (There were two others, one at least was dubious.) Come the 12 round, and Wlad hits Peter with a hook that rocks him to his heels. One or two more shots and I believe he could have put Peter down if not out since Peter was extremely tired. What does he do? Plays it safe and boxes. Yes, he himself had been hurt a few times in the fight and Peter was a dangerous hitter, but c'mon man...try and get the guy out of there. He was ready to go. That would have made a great story; Klitshcko down three times but still comes back to knock Peter out. Of course, you could call it smart because he settled for a decision and won, but he just doesn't take any risks. And that is why people find him uninspiring.
As far as Wlad goes, why would a guy with the physical advantages he enjoys, fight in such a cautious safety first manner? His last fight was about the most ridiculous display I've seen since Akinwande-Lewis. I'd say it was on par with Bonecrusher Smith vs Tyson.
purrity is known for beating wlad, asides from that he was ****ing ****. Stop making him out to be something he wasn't
