That wouldn't quite be true, especially now with recent events in Ukraine. [yt]?v=lH7Q0hRBkPk[/yt] If you were to look around most international politics forums you'd see he's well known. For non boxing reasons perhaps but then again Ali is the biggest name in sport of all time and the vast majority of people who know him have never seen even one of his fights in full.
I live in the USA and agree with this. People from the UK as well. I was at the Dusseldorf, Germany airport after the Wlad/Mormeck fight. One of the airport security staff happened to be British. He asked how was our stay in Germany and I told him we were there for the Klitschko fight. He said "Well, I'm from the UK, so it's my PATRIOTIC DUTY to hate the Klitschko's but I must admit, they are damn good boxers" Nuff said :smoke
I was talking specifically about Wlad in this instance though. I would expect Vitali to be known to some degree in the world of politics, although that hardly means that they are well known in a more general, broader sense.
I can't speak for the US, but if you ask just about any person that has never been follow boxing about the Klitschko brothers, they'll respond "boxers" could recognize them as well. And especially if you ask that question in Germany, Italy, Poland or other eastern countries they'll know some more info on them as well. If you ask them about Hayden anywhere in the continental Europe, the most will either say "that actress girlfriend of Klitschko" or they won't know who are you talking about. Of course, there are people who would recognize her regardless of heir connection to Klitschko. If you ask a random non-boxing guy in Europe to name you some boxers, they would usually come up with Tyson, Ali, Klitschko brothers, Lennox and Rocky Marciano. There might be another case in the US though, I don't know.
There is no way you can actually believe this is a good era of the HW division. It is obvious you are a Klitschko fanboy, so of course you will defend him at all costs, including claiming that the opponents his has to face are actually quality fighters, but if you actually think this division is good then you are delusional
Most people have always thought Vitali was the better fighter of the two, but yes, Wlad will be remembered as greater. Vitali did fight an ATG, which Wlad has never done, but Vitali did lose that fight.
If Vladimir Klitschko were not the champion, the haters would be saying that this is the best heavyweight division in boxing history. All the hate about the Klitschkos is called "Sour Grapes". Vlad has fought his mandatories, Void dropped the title rather than fight Pac. I did not hear anyone complain about that. Void beat up a woman, could not knock her out, makes Void a hero to the haters.........
Klits are not appriciated because they are A) white B) former USSR C) dont fight in US D) dont act like nicca's E) not gangsters but educated F) their styles can be sometimes a little dull. G) retired Lemmux Pick any of the above / or all
I couldn't care less what colour they are; they're boring as ****. They put coffee to sleep. If Mayweather wasn't so entertaining in his pre-fight All Access and conferences, I'd put him in the same category as Klits as he can be quite boring aswell. What boxing needs is guys like Pacquaiao, Thurman, Garcia, Mathysse and so on, who are not sluggers but they're highly gifted boxers who are exciting to watch.
Ain't that the truth!! Strange how all these Klitschko 'boxing fans' at one time or another express there true feelings. There presence is a stain on this website, whomever moderates it really needs to do there job, and permanently remove them. If I was an advertiser, I would demand it. Plenty of websites that caterer to folks who don't like people because of there color, or nationality, or religion.
