:patsch er, no. Why would the BBC edit a tape to enhance a US fighters reputation?

As for the split in the glove, you can clearly see it during round 4.

Wasn't he the bloke who 'done' the Brut adverts, yeh that's it now..."splash it all over".

Might get myself down the shop to pick up some of that for Xmas, the ladies can't get enough of it.

    Damn right TGH

Coop was a good fighter with an evil hook and gave Ali the biggest shock of his young career, True the time between rounds is hardly even noticable and in the end Ali won comfortably but for that to somehow translate to Cooper being a bum ???

    :patsch

    **** No !

Even although he is now an elderly man, you wouldn't dream of saying it to his face, so why the disrespect?

Another thing if Cooper is a bum are the follwoing :

    Sonny Liston

    Ernie Terrel

    Archie Moore

    Floyd Patterson

    Cleveland Williams

All those guys took equally complete shoeings from the young , fast Ali and none of them came close to dropping him so I guess by your rational these are all bums ?

Cooper was a decent fighter with a great punch, however i do not believe if the punch had landed earlier in the round that he would have K'Oed Clay,he would have just tied Cooper up as he did with Frazier, also, apparently the timing was 4 seconds over the allotted time allowed.

But this wasn't the Ali that fought Frazier, against Cooper he was a still inexperienced pro in his early 20's. I'm not saying Cooper would have finished Clay earlier in the round, but its a definate possibility.

It makes Dundee look like he saved the day, rather than gained 4 seconds.

I think Cooper was under-rated,if he were around today he would be a Cruiserweight and nigh on unbeatable.

Given that a 185 pound Cooper put Ali on the Floor, and alot of people have Ali as having one of the greatest chins, thats one hell of a punch he could throw.

i tell you what mate he wasn't.if you check the fight out again you'll see through the first 4 rounds he was holding his own and giving clay trouble.fair enough after the knockdown he must have gotten his arse kicked about clowning around and he came out in the 5th round and really did a number on cooper.
