Haha, awwww. Brush up on your history comrade.

SRL was a druggy and a drunk who beat his wife on occasion. Had nothing to do with boxing, so I don't care. You might wanna pull the pad from between your crotch Stalin.

He fought / beat all the best available competition. Hearns, Duran, Benitez, Hagler - who was past his best, but still, a middleweight. There's a reason he's rated so highly. Floyd is not in the same category.

Leonard definitely has his share of people who dislike him.

But as far as opposition goes, before Ray became a cherry-picker, he fought prime/near-prime versions of Benitez, Duran, Hearns, and Kalule. And even when he timed the Hagler fight well, Ray himself was a smaller guy and hadn't had any official fights in 3 years.

When Mayweather was an active, take-all-comers type of fighter, the
opposition was much lesser than the guys Ray faced. Now Mayweather has a chance to face another ATG, and eliminate a LOT of the criticism, but both sides can't come to terms.

SRL resume is insane he beat top tier ATG in Duran(top 5), Hearns (top 25) and Hagler (top 40) in or near their primes. He beat a couple of HOF. He didn't fight a lot of fights but he fought the best in a great era and beat most of them.

5 to 10 years after he retires he will be remembered more favourably.

    Why?

    From other thread in Classic...

Floyd's career wont be put in proper perspective until he's long gone from the game. Today is always viewed as vastly inferior to yesteryear and it's always been that way. Mayweather is under a microscope and subject to harsh scrutiny. One thing that cant be taken from him is that he defeated plenty share of #1/#2/#3 rated fighters at the time he fought them, of his day, over several different weight divisions. It's irrefutable. He did. His last two fights were against the #2 rated WWs. His next is against the #1 LMW. No fewer than three of his crowns were Lineal/Ring (to some that is largely significant), and a decade from now I'd consider it a safe bet he'll have his crop of 'HOF' scalps as well.

The 0 does and will mean something.

Leonard had great offence, was exciting to watch, didn't duck anyone, fought the best and had a good personality outside the ring. Hard not to like Leonard, he was the complete package.

Floyd has great skills, but he's no Sugar Ray.

I'm not a hater at all. Infact, I'm a fan of Floyd's talent. But anyone who calls him the GOAT doesn't know their history

The '0' doesn't mean much to me considering he never put it at risk in the years before Marquez. Cotto at Welter, Margo, Paul Williams and Pacquiao...these were fights we as fans were denied, mainly because Floyd lost the urge and chose to retire (his words, not mine).

I can comfortably name 5 Welters that beat him throughout history, and I can name at least 40 fighters with a better resume than his. How can people rate him as the best ever with these glaring obstacles in the way?

As for that thread in the classic, I voted that Floyd was a greater p4p fighter than Rocky

SRL win over Hagler > anything Floyd done and i'm Floyd fan.
Plus add to that win over Duran, Hearns(even tho Tommy out boxed him) do you understand now, why?
