    Basically, it comes down to money. There is too much money for either fighter to let it slip away. More specifically, Pacquiao doesn't have as many attractive options as his team claims. Let's look at some potential opponents;

    140

Hatton - A no go for obvious reasons

JMM- This is a great option considering their history. That's what I would say had Mayweather not trashed JMM in September. The demanD for this fight has taken a serious hit since that time

Malignaggi - Paulie is coming off a nice win. However, he brings nothing to the table. No money, no belt, no prestige. And does Pac really want to deal with more steroid accusations for a much lower profile fight?

Ahmir Khan - A no go for obvious reasons

Tim Bradley - Bradley brings a belt and some prestige. On the surface, it looks like a good choice. However, Bradley also brings a lot of talent and determination. This would not be an easy fight for Pac. What would you rather do if you were Pac, make $40 mill against one of the best fighters of this era and be subjected to blood tests, or make a fraction of that to fight a young, talented, determined, up and coming fighter who will bring it for 12 rounds?

    147

Berto/Mosley winner -This is a no go. They fight at the end of January. They won't be ready until May or June. Being that Many is deadset on running for office, neither would be available to fight him

Paul Williams - This is a no go for obvious reasons

Joshua Clottey - See Tim Bradley except take away the undefeated record and the belt.

    154

Yuri Foreman - Fans complained because Foreman was on the undercard of Pac's last fight. No one is interested in seeing this guy fight. This is at least a passable option though considering Foreman has a paper title(not that Pac has a problem collecting paper titles)

I think you're right. You could say largely the same thing about Mayweather's options, as well. On the Berto/Mosley point, I believe Arum is quoted in an interview with Greg Leon as saying without Mayweather, there will not be a March 13 fight. Thus, he would be waiting until the fall regardless.

alright, unbiased boxing fan, let's see mayweather's list of opponenets and why the fight will happen.

the thread title leads one to believe that you will be talking about both fighters, perhaps why they will both compromise a little, but your post is all about Pac as if May has nothing to gain or lose and it sort of makes you look like a Mayweather nuthugger.

Any fight with Pacquiao will generate lots of interest. A third Marquez bout is my pick here though.

You make somewhat of a good point. I'll tell you right now, the Berto/Mosley winner is the only attractive fight out there for Floyd and it doesn't pay as much as the Pacquiao fight. However, it's better than anything else that Pac has. Not only does Pac have less attactive options, but he also would have to explain to fans about how he pulled out of the fight because he's squirmish about needles. Good luck with that. In the end, both parties will need to comprimise, but Pacquiao moreso than Mayweather with all things considered.

of course its going to happen. one theory is that this whole bloodtest talk is bull****, just pre-hype for the fight. to hit the jackpot, mayweather needs pacquiao and pacquiao needs mayweather,, and everybody involved who stands to get paid, need them to fight eachother, plain and simple. $$$$$$$

Mayweather got out of 20+million in a rematch with DLH because of pride.

He did it once, he'll do it again.

youre right....people forget about all the super fights that ALMOST did NOT happen......because once they get in the ring...no one cares how long it finally took or the hoops that were jumped through or the demands and or stipulations...
this will happen...its too big and there is really no other fight the public wants to see with either of them except each other

I think they both will have a lot of explaining to do for not making this happen ie Pac should give in a little and so should May...the NFL/ MLB model of steroid testing seems to me to be a decent compromise (more thorough drug testing that ever before in pro boxing). and yeah you got a point about FMJ having a better opponent in Mosley/ Berto but do you honestly think that fight goes right through and then it probably takes place in june or july if not later. it's their best interests as well as ours for them to quit ****ing around and get this **** done (which I think they will end up doing).

We have an update on this list. Mosley, JMM, and Bradley are all out as potential opponents for Pacquiao. Their promoters have stated that Pac would have to go through olympic style testing to fight them. Malignaggi and Williams(Haymon is his manager) would probably ask for testing as well. That leaves Josh Clottey and Yuri Foreman as options for Manny Juiciao should he decide not to comply with the testing.
