Parker was a former world champ with some solid wins of his own

 

Parker has the #4 resume of an active heavyweight after Usyk, Fury and Joshua. If he is allowed to come back and rematch Wardley, he will certainly add a second title and another big name. If he just has faith and hangs in here, this mess could end up being the best thing that has ever happened to him, because he may very well beat Wardley and enter an Usyk fight as a champion coming off of a classic rivalry.

Are you that confident in Parker ? Wardley would beat him again, he improves every fight and now he knows Parker can't knock him out. He'd be more confident and Parker can't walk him down, he'd have to use the ring, but that just gives Wardley more time and space. That was Parkers best chance to beat Fabio, he was at his most confident and perhaps his best form

 

The right thing as a boxing fan might be to find a way to not pay for it or watch it the next day on youtube. I certainly will go the youtube Route. I'm Not waking up in the middle of the night for usyk's easy 'legacy' touch and certainly not supporting it

 

He didn't fight a good fight against wardley, even if he was winning without the questionable stoppage. He hardly won against zhang, in my eyes he lost. He won against wilder who now most agree is shot. And he doesn't excite a lot.
Parker has stamina issues und a bad punching technique (as stupid as it seems to say that about a former world champion).

I doubt Parker will reach these heights again. Too many competitors. Dubois swerved him shamefully, but still I see parker losing. I think he might lose to hrgovic, too.

 

He was up on the cards against Wardley. He should have come in lighter and boxed more, but he was winning. He beat Zhang. Is what it is.

 

Yes and I was appalled by the ko. He could have made it and would have won on the cards. But i hear this too often about Parker. 'should have fought differently'. That's his own doing and why would i expect him to do better next time? Joshua is also rightfully criticized for slugging with ruiz and boxing against usyk (though i thought the second fight he couldn't have done much better). Bad gameplans will not suddenly turn into brilliant tactics the next fight. Parker firmly belongs in the top 10 but I assume he will not be in the top 3 anymore.

I agree with watching it later, but there is just something special watching a fight in real time. For me, it not the same watching it after the fact.

 

I don't really mind if Usyk takes a soft touch fight for a change.

I can understand why he’s doing it, he wants a big moment in the US against a prominent US fighter. Many fighters dream of that kind of moment all their lives. The problem is Wilder is a complete bum at this point. So if you’re going to do it then get it out of the way ASAP. It’s already been almost 6 months since he last fought and no doubt this fight will take a few months to finalise. He needs to get it done NOW so he can actually have an important fight in the summer. Otherwise he’s just holding the belts hostage.

 

Arguably neither was Wilder, but even if we accept that he was Parker still beat him.

End of the day Usyk should be defending his belts against contenders, not picking people who are outside the top 10.

 

I'm a big believer in fighting the #1 contender once a year and then having a mandatory (or two!) fights the rest of the year for the heavyweight champion.

You want to fight Wilder? I mean it really at this point should be a non-title fight as he's not even a contender, but I could live with that if we also knew he was going to defend against the general consensus #1 guy as well right afterwards or right before.

 

Yes, it's totally different. The fights seem to unfold quicker and you are thrilled by every movement and change of pace.
