With fighters in the Welterweight division such as Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Marcos Maidana, and so on, one would think that the Welterweight division would be home for a number of exciting top matchups. However, the fans are being robbed of such fights all for one reason in particular, which is the opportunity to fight the division's King, Floyd Mayweather. One would think that an upcoming fighter would want to make a definitive statement to put themselves ahead of the pack for such a fight. Instead, were being treated to fights with soft touches because these fighters are afraid to lose and miss out on a chance for a big time payday and opportunity to become the new king. All the interviews I see these contenders talk a big game yet haven't made any real statements in the ring. While I believe Berto does not deserve the fight and has very little chance of any success in the fight, who can we actually say DESERVES the fight? Keith Thurman, while talking a big game, hasn't really done much. He looked far from impressive against Guerrero and was hurt bad against Collazo ffs. No one watched Khan-Algieri and thought Khan was a real threat to Mayweather. Brook, who had a good win against Porter, took on two mediocre defenses. Porter lost to Brook and beat Broner who was already exposed whoop dee doo. Point being, no one has got a buzz at WW at all.bIm not dying to see any matchup against Mayweather and I blame the fighters holding out on taking tough fights being afraid to lose out and also Haymon for allowing this **** to go on.
