Not sure Tyson would have got past Wlad's Jab.

Tyson in his prime had great head and upper body movement so I don't think Wlad's jab would have been effective as in usually is. Tyson had no problem with Holmes and Bruno's who both had great jabs.

I think Tyson head to head in his prime was a top 5 fighter but I don't think he was the best.

I'm not sure you understand what the word ever means. I'm pretty sure ever is a little bit longer than 86-88. You'd have to have a long and dominant boxing career to be considered the greatest ever.

  7. He is definitely one of the greats.

No, but he was very very good. The list of heavyweights I would pick to beat him is rather short.

To the Wlad poster above: Be sensible, Tyson would have murdered him.

Not one other Heavyweight could've gone through a past prime ex LHW with shot knees and no desire to fight? I beg to differ.

Tyson didn't murder everybody, even in his prime there were a few challenging fights. Of course we always remember the heroics of past fighters and tend to forget their weaknesses and struggles. In ten years from now, Wlad will be remembered for his dominance, his control in the ring and his losses will be seen in the right perspective to his wins. Who remembers today hos much Ali struggled with a small Doug Jones, who would be at best a top 5 cruiser today? Who defines Joe Louis by his loss to Schmeling the same way Wlad is so often defined by his loss to Sanders?

Agreed. Lennox Lewis or the pre -surgery Vitali Klitschko could have taken out that version of Spinks in one round.

I think he was very close to being the greatest in his prime. I only see George Foreman possibly beating him with clubbing punches while tyson comes in. And Joe Frazier isn't to be counted out also. Plus Holyifeld always had a chance against any version of Tyson. Tyson was designed to destroy Ali type fighters (Holmes for example) so I don't see Ali winning. On the other hand it's Ali, he can always figure out a way to win. So if not the greatest, than at least top 5.

As well as Earnie Shavers, Jack Dempsey, perhaps Ken Norton, definitely George Foreman.....
