Why want Haye to beat The Klits???

That little trinket doesnt matter. Why doesnt he just say do a Riddick Bowe and throw the belt in the bin. Then say to Wlad or Vitai (WHY WONT HE ENTERTAIN VITALI?) right! When do you want to fight?

I agree. Both brothers now know Haye is in a lose/lose situation (in wich he manouvered himself), and are looking to toy with him now.
Looks like the brothers are trying to make Haye fight Vitali against who he doesn't stand much of a chance. If he doesn't fight at least one of them, and retires Haye will look like a bigmouthed fool forever. If he doesn't retire it's just the latest in a long line of lies and the Klits and the boxing fans will trash him for it! And might he lose his next mandatory, he's the joke of the boxing world.

While this is of course "foul play" by the Klits, Haye did make this happen with his games and crappy fights.

 

So what was stopping him from signing after Wlad beats Chisora or alternatively, with Vitali after he beats Solis?

When does Haye need a contract in his hand? He can still have a unification contract well before the 12 months is up if he signs with Vitali after the Solis fight.

However, strangely, when Wlad became unavailable, Haye refused to consider this (obvious) option. Immediately and inexplicably ruled it out. Why? I thought that fighting a Klit was his most burning desire?

The WBA are also notoriously flexible (corrupt) when it suits them. What are the provisions for extensions?

 

I would prefer that at least one of the Klits proved how limited Haye is in the ring.

However, if that doesn't happen, then it won't be a tragedy. Haye has been hyped up as something he isn't. I have him in the middle of the top ten at heavy. Fighting Adamek will be historically as significant.
In the long run, Haye would be another predictable KO within 6-7 rounds, and afterwards, a lot of people will wonder what the hell they were smoking when they ranked him.

The thing is... if Haye does get into the ring with Wlad, it will be for his retirement fund. He doesn't want to win, he knows that he can't. So he will just be showing up to get his paycheck.

Having that denied to him, while the Klits go on beating fighters that are better than he will ever be (and with much less hype) would have a certain amusement factor. Watching him slip from C grade celebrity to D grade, then into oblivion.... yeah that isn't the worst thing that can happen. Seeing some tabloid show a photo of him in ten years, fat like a blimp and working as a janitor. That would be priceless.

Still, while he doesn't deserve the honour of being in the ring with one of the Klits, while he just isn't good enough and will get humiliated, while he doesn't deserve the massive amount of money he would get.... having the gif of his senseless head bouncing off the canvas as part of my sig block is the preferred outcome.

 

Saying the belt doesn't matter is stupid. Compare the terms the Klits give to opponents in voluntary defences (including the ones Haye orginally signed for) with the terms on the table for Haye now that he has a belt and it's a unification fight.

That is why he won't give up the belt.

People dislike the Klits for the uninteresting & uncompetitive nature of their fights over the last few years.

They also dislike them because a large portion of their fans spout contentious nonsense about their abilities & legacies.

Say whatever you like about Haye outside the ring. His fights are far more entertaining, he takes more risks & is much more pleasing on the eye than a stiff-backed safety first approach to a mis-matched opponent.

But he should get grief for the Harrison fight/non-event.

I asked a question as to why it could not be done. I have yet to see any actual explanation - only speculation.

So, If Haye can fight Wlad on July 2nd and that will meet his WBA obligations, then were does this '30 days' come from? If July 2nd is acceptable to the WBA, then that is at least 9 weeks. How far can this be extended?

When does he need a signed contract in his hands? If it absolutely needs to be in his hands before the 12 month mark then he clearly can't fight Wlad - unless the WBA are willing to be flexible.

Does this leave room to fight Vitali instead?

What are the WBA rules for extensions? What are the other options?

Sorry for suggesting that the WBA are corrupt, that appears to have hurt your feelings. I am sure that they, and every other boxing sanctioning body, are paragons of virtue.

The heavyweight division has been overrated for years. The last truly great heavyweight fight I've seen was this and this fight happened like 6 years ago.

The only thing the heavyweight division still brings is devastating ko's thanks to the Klitschko's but no complete fight has been classic for about a decade. People wonder why the lower weight classes have been getting so much love lately. Haye isn't going to bring anything of importance to the division as long as he doesn't fight a Klitschko....

I (perhaps over optimistically) assumed that you're aware that governing bodies often make exceptions to their mandatory rules in order to allow unification?

If Haye was to sign to fight Wlad now, with no Chisora fight, then he would have a cemented unification fight arranged on July 2nd. It appears that this is enough to satisfy the WBA. However, postponing the mandatory for little more than the hope that a unification fight might happen two months down the line is not quite the same is it? Given how protracted negotiations have been between the parties in the past, those alone could take a month alone. A Chisora win could bring about a champion with no intention of unifying.

If you can't differentiate between the two scenarios then I genuinely don't know what to suggest. Maybe a strong dose of anaesthetic?

As for the WBA's particular policy of the deferral of madatories - I don't know, nor do I have much interest. Wlad has opted to fight Chisora, so this point is moot.

I do not dispute that the WBA, or any other body is guilty of corruption. My issue is with your mentality that Haye exploiting this is a more legitimate avenue to explore than having the recognised World Heavyweight Champion declining to fight a 14-0, British level (at best) novice and instead signing to fight a unification fight.

Chagaev was the most boring fight I have ever seen, closely followed by many others involving either brother.

Do you think that Haye should have stood toe-to-toe with SNV for 12 rounds? Is that a winning strategy? At least he fought SNV, neither brother wanted anything to do with Sugar.
