Why was Ali never considered a "mob fighter" despite his association with Black Muslims?

Orlando Anderson, his uncle Keefe D, and some other Compton Southside crips killed Pac. Pac and Suge and some Death Row guys are on video jumping Orlando in the casino not too long before the shooting. That fight probably lasted longer than Tyson-Seldon did that night.

Those Southside Crips worked as security for Bad Boy records.

Keefe D claims that Puffy put up $500k for them to kill Pac and Suge Knight. He also claims that Biggie didn’t know about it, but Faith Evans knew about the hit. Faith knowing but Biggie not knowing seems hard to believe.

Pretty sure it was the guy named Orlando who was a gangster in LA and nothing to do with Biggie.

Sounds like bull****. These guys know not to tell on each other or they’ll face serious repercussions. Orlando and affiliates did it in retaliation until proven otherwise.

It's okay to be an iconoclast but I suspect the moderators don't like boxing threads veering into discussions on Blacks and violent crime.

The NOI were/are a cult but I think it's very disingenuous to not speak on their inception bcuz of the overt anti black racism of the time as well as into Alis time. He was a young black kid from Kentucky you think the racism he heard of and I wouldn't b surprised saw had no effect of him joining? Keep in mind I have a lot of criticism towards them but I try to keep things in context too. Very different from white mobsters joining together and agreeing about the concept of whiteness in a country established w the same mindset.

Also, "Black Muslims" is a very broad term. There r black Muslims w no ties to NOI or cut them in order to focus on traditional Islamic teachings. This coming from a guy who gets mainly irritated w religion but I want to avoid spewing falsehoods too.

There was plenty of racism against Italians when the Italian mafia formed in the US though.

There were a lot of well intentioned white folks in Ali's life starting with Joe Martin without whom there might never have been a Muhammad Ali. I'm sure at some level he realized that. But with all that being said that has to be weighed against all the racism he saw around him. He overcame it. He had white son in laws and Jewish grandchildren. He repudiated racism in all its forms and said it's the person and not his or her color we should judge.

And some Italians and Jews got involved in organized crime because traditional avenues to success were closed to them.

I'm talking about after the fact. Italian mobsters had no problem w being considered white and being racist towards ppl who weren't later on.

Yes but I was explaining why he would join the NOI as well as their inception. Never did I intend to imply that he hated white ppl.

In the book Blood Brothers which was about the relationship betweent Ali and Malcolm Ali was interested in the NOI I believe going back to 1961 long before he met Malcolm. Yeah. It's disingenuous to argue that NOI arose out of nowhere and that there isn't any scenario where a Black person could be attracted to it.

I've read so many books and seen so many Ali documentaries they start to run together. The Nation used Ali. They didn't embrace him until after he beat Liston. They thought he was a loudmouth who wouid get his ass handed to him and they didn't like the thought of Blacks beating up other Blacks for money. Malcolm always believed in him. I respect them both but Malcolm wasn't a naif either. He saw the value of a relationship with Muhammad too.
