I didn't say he couldn't win. But he isn't going to move like he did in the 60s for 15 rounds against the Joe Frazier he fought in 1971.
The comeback Ali definitely had tougher comp, that’s the golden era of heavyweight boxing, head and shoulders better the competition
Same thing happened to Tony Tucker and Buster Douglas. It turns out being inactive for long stretches during your prime can be detrimental.
He was placed up on a pedastle by the elites and started believing his own press clippings. Not to disparage his careetlr, it was a great one. But after 1970 Clay was the recipient of many a disputable decision. He was worth too much at that point to be allowed to rack up any losses
Maybe so, but I think if he had retained his skills of his peak years, 1964-1967, he still would have had an easier time with them. There was no Rope A Dope at that time.
From a 2017 Study: "A study to be released Wednesday of Muhammad Ali's public speaking from 1968 to '81 found that when he was in his early to mid-30s, he began exhibiting signs of slowed and slurred speech, several years before he was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome at age 42." Early 30's? What about late 20's, without the slurred speech? Something to think about, anyway. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but it has been my limited experience with people who suffered from Parkinson's, that slurred speech was not their first symptom. Very slight clumsiness, tremors, and lack of stamina seemed to precede slurred speech. Source: https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_...y-reveals-early-indications-parkinson-disease
Ali fought three fighters who were better than Frazier. Pre-exile Ali was far better suited to fight JF. Faster, more elusive, better reactions. He wouldn’t have gotten caught nearly as much. 60’s Ali is better suited to fight all elite swarmers, including Tyson, Marciano, Dempsey, etc.
Only people I know of who you can possibly make a case for, are Liston, and Foreman. Who's the third?
Floyd Patterson, he fought Muhammad Ali in 1965 and 1972, Floyd did say after the rematch against Ali, that Ali lost his legs during his enforced 43 month banishment from boxing.
Frazier an Norton always take wins off Ali, he just wasn’t unbeatable. Also the between his 60’s and 70’s comp is HUGE, your trying to make out Ali had the same level as comp in the 60’s that he had in the 70’s to make him look better
I would rather place you on ignore than debate with your ignorance, you are not ols enough youngster. Better yet, I quit, eat dog feces.. And mods go ahead and ban me for life, you would be doing me a favor than to put up with ignorant posters like this one and El Gallo. I will not be back.
Haha haha, you are a truly pathetic man. And you fought in wars with your weaknesses, no wonder you got your arses kicked in Nam
I did not go to Vietnam you pathetic dork, you have big ones behind a keyboard, you are a waste of my time creep. You would not last two seconds in a war.
Yep. I've never got a good explanation as to why Ali was the only one unaffected. And at no point during his 70's career was he considered to be as good as before it. But a revisionist version persists on this board.
