Yet Galento was able to hurt and drop all team greats, beat tough men who were much bigger and in better shape than himself. He was better and a lot tougher than you're willing to give him credit for. Comparing Slice or Butterbean to Galento is insulting.
Yes much smaller men....if you think Kimbo or moreso Butter bean couldnt defeat the same guys you obviously havent actually checked Galentos resume. Who are ALL these greats Galento dropped BTW? Its insulting to suggest Galento hasd any remote skill by modern standards ,you know he wouldnt even be boxing today if he had walked in the ring as his REAL form of the 1940's..whats even more funny is his actual opponents records ,go look that up ...give it a rest. lol
Galento beat The New York robber Abe Feldman, and destroyed the Brooklyn Bomber Herbie Katz in a single round to name a couple.
Feldman was 5'11 and a light Hw? What does this exactly prove? Many guys defeated him He didnt even hit hard for a LHW,let alone against a 230 pounder .lol Herbie was also another undersized guy ,do you really think Bean doesn't beat these guys? He didn't even win his last two fights i see before facing Galento. Both guys were light heavy weights,.
I dont have to suggest when top guys were under 200 pounds. Are you suggesting Galento is skilled ? If so then i can see where you would have problems analyzing fights. Galento fought for the Hw title...wasnt he considered a TOP guy in HIS Era ? It would be the equivalent of Bean getting a shot at Lennox Lewis by todays standards...which would result in a full blow out ending within 2/3 rounds ..maybe one if lewis was pissed.
Ok nice deflection. So you're one of those guys who thinks the games changed so much that even bums and frauds today would contend back then. Not true at all... There's tough crude fighters in the modern era as well. Galento wouldn't be top contender today, but he would definitely be a tough journeyman who might upset flawed prospects and fringe contenders which could land him a shot at the big time just as he did in his own era. Again. Do you think Kimbo and Butterbean would be top fighters if thrown into the 30s-40s?
They are BOTH better than this guy. You are deflecting not me. Only someone who doesnt know what skills look like are going to disagee here.If you cant figure out that more dangerous guys like Kimbo and Bean wouldnt be top guys in the 40's well thats on you. There is NOTHING about Galento and the word decent skill that go hand in hand .only in your world would a 5'9 240 pound sloppy guy be looked at as top level...geezz..go to you tube on the link and tell me where the skill is?.lol This content is protected
He was underrated for two reasons. One, he was fat, not in the typical shape top boxers are in, guys who take their profession seriously. Two, he came from a Tough Man background and it is, again, hard to take these guys seriously. He was a decent fighter, though.
Who's saying Galento was skilled? I'm certainly not. He was a crude but tough brawler who wasn't afraid to bend the rules to get the upper hand. Kimbo's only knocked out crackheads on the street, and many of his MMA fights were probably fixed(even then it was utter bums and old men he was beating) Kimbo was knocked out BY JAB against a much smaller man in Petruzelli, got his ass handed to him by a fat cop with no professional experience, went life and death with a handpicked bum who also fat and stood at 5'11... Look at Kimbos last fight before he died against another street fighting fraud Dada 5000. He gassed after like a minute of fighting LOL.... There's also the infamous moment against Houston Alexander where both men keeled over from exhaustion and took a mutual breather. Galento went 10+ rounds multiple times.... Kimbo would pass out before even going 5 rounds, the guy was a complete joke of a fighter. If you think Galento wasn't tough enough to beat Kimbo or Butterbean it's you who is mistaken and doesn't know anything about analyzing fights.

Well if Galento is not skilled why does Bean have to be ,to be a top guy in the 40's? You really arent making sense ,just talking in circles!
Bean was only dangerous for a round or two. His best wins are over Louis Monaco and a post-Tyson drunken/drugged mess McNeeley(who was never good to begin with) He's known as the king of 4 rounders for a reason. Galento was much more efficient at what he did than Bean was. There's a reason Bean never moved past fighting bums in 4 rounders.
Oh sorry... He did once. Which resulted in his being schooled by a geriatric version of Larry Holmes.
