First of all I'm on record saying Clottey arguably won. Arguably. But factor in the disadvantage Cotto was in.

Cotto had been brutally destroyed less than a year before the Clottey fight. Cotto was fighting one eyed. And based on his weight increases 140-157 (17lbs) over night just as an example, his bad relationship with his trainer, his cut over his eye, and coming off a life changing beating I can see why a NOT 100% Cotto struggled with a contender like Clottey.

u can hate on him...I never tried to get you to stop. I could care less as it does not have any effect on my life. I just don't get how doing any of that takes away from what he does inside of the ring. Former President Clinton cheated on his wife but it made him nothing worse or better at his job.

Smart business move?? He added weight carefully, yea...other than that, I never expected to see him fight again and most thought it was true. He announced it to the sanctioning bodies as well... So now Floyd has come out of retirement and fought the #2 LB4LB #1 LW, #3 LB4LB #1 WW, #3 WW Ortiz, #1 LMW Cotto, and won all but 3 rounds...lost 1 to Shane and 2 to Cotto...was up over Marquez 12-0 and over Ortiz 4-0.

There is a difference in cheating on your wife and beating up your kids mother, and he didnt exactly do it just once, sorry but it leaves a stain on the sport, mother ****er is supposed to be this future legend future hall of famer, yet he lacks the balls to fight top fighters in their prime at the higher weights but he will sure beat the **** out of his babys momma in front of his kids

Ok and I understnad that. That doesn't change his right hand lead or his check left. It doesn't change his footwork or his stamina which is from another world. It doesn't change how he works off of angles and how he keeps range and keeps a fight at his tempo. It doesn't change that he lands on his opponents at more than any fighter in the history of the sport since electronic punch stats were introduced.

So again, it's all nice what your saying...but what your saying does not equate to Floyd being scared of Manny or Clottey being any sort of top 3 or 4 WW.

Clottey is/was a tough SOB. I think his fight with Margarito made people take notice.

Seems as though you are bassing your opinion of him on his fight with Pacman, inwhich he did lay an egg.

Clottey was just a real good contendar. He is the type of fighter that was a league below the Gatti's, Ortiz', and Khan's of the world.

He was real good, but not good enough to be a champion or a "real" champion.

    You have to be joking.

Ortiz only became #3 because he beat the hypejob AndROID BALCO who only rose up in ranks because the ww division imploded after the other two guys cleaned house

    Clottey> Ortreez all day

It was Vic's only win against a top 10 type opponent in 5 tries. And it was a catchweight, so even that's partial credit.
