cotto recieved a gift against him, 85% of the clean punches landed in that fight came from clottey, he laded more puchnes, and at a higher percetage. go check the compuox stats.

 

Is he retired or what? He's 34 and hasn't fought in over a year.

Wait, this thread was an attempt to **** on Pac by someone who never saw Clottey against Cotto and Margarito in WW.
That's not even to include Zab and Corrales.

Not saying Pac's win over Clottey was ATG caliber, it was an OK fight, kinda like FMJ fighting Ortiz.

 

Clottey was the Oba Carr of his day.

 

Agree with this; I had a bet with a mate that Cotto would win, round 11 was about to start and I was thinking Clottey was going to take it but for some reason the last 2 rounds I think he gave away; he didn't throw hardly any punches; gave them rounds away which cost him the fight. For most of the fight I remember thinking if Clottey lets his hands go he can take Cotto out but he just didn't throw his hands anywhere near enough. One big factor also to remember though is Cotto had a pretty damn big cut above his eye to deal with too which may have been from a head butt. Turned out to be a very good win for Cotto which I felt he won very marginally and had to go through adversity to do it. I can see why some people thought Clottey won though.

 

Also remember Cotto body slamming Clottey and was extremely worried Clottey was going to pull out of the fight!

 

:deal absolutely. He is easily on cottos level, prime cheating margos level, called Paul Williams out to no response at the time when HE was avoided. There is a strong argument that after Floyd, prime Clottey was the best welterweight in the world. And we all know floyd had no intention of getting in the ring with him

 

I'll come out and say it: Because people desperately want to believe the division was stock full of talent when really it wasn't - it just helps an anti-Mayweather agenda and it "boosts" Pac's resume.

He was highly ranked at the time...but, so was ****ing Andre Berto.

The division in the late 90s was stacked....Tito, Oscar, Whitaker, Quartey, Mosley, Forrest, Rivera, Carr, Lopez etc. That's worthy of a Manny Steward "Omygawd" it was so talent rich.

cotto vs clottey was not a draw man you guys are just cotto haters dude won that fight close but he won i was there live..that big ass gash didnt help cotto either and the knockdown in the second round was the difference
