Why was Cotto so much easier for Pacquiao than he was for Mayweather?

It was far better than "He will be the first to stop him!" "Him being competitve against him will be like Lepercauns and Unicorns!":lol::rofl:rofl:patsch

Says a lot that Cotto would ask for 10ounces vs Mayweather and not the other way around.

your detailed answer does not address why they asked for it but only tries to justify them asking for it.

Again he fought Twice with no issues at 147 then turns around and asks for a catchweight with Cotto.

WHY? WHY ask for the catchweight when you had fought very succesfuly at 147 with no issues?

Not why can Cotto do it....but why ask for it? what is the motive to ask for it?

You mean getting saved by the judges against a 38 year lightweight whom you had almost every single advantage over than getting robbed against another fellow boxer in his own backyard??

Yup, i'd say it would be more embarassing...Especially for the guys fans who kept on insisting their hero was so much more improved, that he will have no trouble getting him out of here this time, and will be able to stop him unlike Floyd Mayweather.

Well, at least Floyd actually beat him...You're hero couldn't even do that without help from his promoters judges. :patsch

What makes it worse is that the fight got voted robbery of the year, when popkins was hoping pac would get fighter of the year. :rofl

OK, so now beating Juan Manuel Marquez is more embarrassing than losing to Chris John.

    Weight and trainer.

Why can nobody other than Mayweather, beat Marquez convincingly?

Popkins... Cotto having to weigh in at 145 means he has to concentrate more on making the weight during training camp. That in itself effects how his training camp is run, as he has to have more focus on making 145 than he would being able to weight anything 147 and under. Do we not agree he needed the best gameplan and fight strategy and all the training he could have to take on one of the P4P best?

Who was his trainer and who was in his corner for the Pac bout? How do you think Pac would fare facing Floyd without Roach training him and in his corner? Do you think he would perform the same as if he had Roach the entire camp and in his corner?

Cotto refused to fight Pac at 147 again, stating "I will not sacrifice my body for Pac ANY MORE" Now I'm sure you'll claim this is an excuse way after the fact, and why didn't he say anything before or immediately after the fight. But he did state this out of his own mouth.. And he just happen to say it when he got out of his Top Rank contact, and was in negotiations with Pac.. Could it be Arum didn't want him to speak out on it while under contract? Doesn't mean it's true, but it's a reason why he wouldn't have said it immediately after. Kind of like Floyd's been 'ducking' Cotto but the fight was made immediately after he left Arum...

Slap yourself for the "JMM being competitve against him will be like Lepercauns and Unicorns!" comment... You really said that man? :verysad :rofl:rofl

no im not ducking...you only give OPINIONS as to why you think Cotto was fine at 145...which is your opinion....and you have good reason to believe such.

    BUT

The questiuon is why did they ask for the catchweight when Pac had already shown he was fine at 147.

It could be that they wanted to TRY and get an advantage...who knows if it worked...from your detailed post....MAYBE it didnt work...because you do present eveidence that it may not have worked. however there is solid evidence that suggest Team Pac was looking for an advantage.

the eveidence being he had already fought TWICE with no catchweights at 147...then asks Cotto the champ to come down to 145...they also asked Mosley to come down...then went north of 147 to 150...this does not sound like a fighter who needs 145....but yet they asked for it against very good strong fighters in Cotto and Mosley.
