[ I am not sure why Ray was beaten so badly against Norris. Maybe the weight loss.[/quote]

Ray said it was like fighting himself of 10 years before.

Norris was a very good fighter at the point, and had a chance to beat the hell out of a once great fighter....so he did.

Typical in boxing....the new shark on the block eats the old shark that can no longer swim or turn so fast.

    Precisely.

All you have to do is be old enough to watch a ton of careers thru the decades. Very few guys win when it's their reflexes that have slowed and they're the guy giving up that 10 year age advantage. But you do see the greats do it and they somehow are resourceful enough to use other skills in there. Guys like Duran. And Ali. It really is a thing of beauty when the old guy reaches back and they do come up with the rare victory.

Yea just go and watch how when Duran lost some of his speed in his early 30s he used his other skills against Kirkland Laing, Benitez, Hearns

Leonard-Duran 3 sucked donkey balls. The paying public hadn't forgotten that yet.

Norris appeared to be a handpicked opponent for Leonard, and wasn't well-known.

Nobody knew Leonard was going to get beaten up. If they had known I'm sure they would have been rushing to buy tickets.
