Why was David Price so grossly overrated?

    I don't think he was over rated , until he ran into Thompson he did everything a promising boxer should do and did it in style.

    But as with everything in sport there are levels and once you get found out its very difficult to come back from.

    Not everyone is destined to be a world champion.

    Nah. I always thought he would get found out due to his appalling lack of coordination. It's obvious to most with actual experience of watching boxing matches. There's probably people who still think he beats T.Fury!
    As soon as you give Price something to think about, his reactions/decision making slow right down and he is easy to manipulate.

    Price was mismanaged.

    Blowing domestic level fighters away then when he stepped up to face Thompson he had all the hype but hadn't been prepared properly.

    He needed to be brought on through the levels where he'd learn and be brought on - instead the sudden jump in class was too much.

    That and I think he lacks the ability in other departments to have really made it, but yes, he was managed badly.
