Age weight drain and the first Tarver fight ruined him.

To me, Roy Jones Jr caught the Rocky III syndrome, he was not hungry any more. He fell in love with his own newspaper clippings, it happens all the time to many celebrities. They essentially refuse to put the work in.

Jones was hardly a celeb of any kind with many newspaper clippings outside of Pensacola. He didn't fight anyone between Griffin and Tarver though, all easy pickings who shouldn't of been in the same building as him.

    This is a perfect analyses.

Those dramatic shifts in body chemistry & hormones are very stressful for the body.

It was a combination of things for sure. It's not as if he didn't have a full successful career behind him. Hagler and Monzon were retired or retiring around this stage. His star had dimmed.

He didn’t add 20 pounds of muscle.

    That’s right.

It was a perfect shot though.

Roy was not weight drained for that fight, neither he was for the Johnson fight. He was in very good shape for those fights, age just caught up to him

Well Roy’s opponents showed certainly less respect for him after the KO
