Exactly, I pointed this out after the first fight, that the reason why Golovkin didn't go to the body and apply better pressure as because it wasn't convenient for him to get in a close quarters slugfest as Canelo's hooks and uppercuts are much crisper and meatier than his at that range.

Canelo dominated, the only criticism I'd have of his performance was that he actually did what he promised, he went for it trying to stop Golovkin when he didn't have to. He didn't need to take that risk as it was the only way Golovkin was able to bank a couple of the late rounds as Canelo in rounds 10 and 11 looked spent.
Credit Canelo for rebounding in round 12 and taking it on I believe all three of the judges scorecards.

Who'd of thought it would be Canelo in round 12 motioning to Golovkin as if to say, "C'mon, lets close this show and trade!!!"

It is called circuling. He was doing fine with those tactics and landing more punches.

Golovkin ain't a walk up slugger, he boxes at range where he's comfortable. In the first fight canelo retreated so GGG come foward, in this fight canelo stood his ground so GGG kept his range by reacting to canelo advancing and manoeuvring keeping his punching range.
