Why was Hopkins and now Jones keen on fighting Adamek? We know the Hopkins story, now Jones wants to fight Adamek. Do they see a flaw to his game, an easy option, or is it just his fan base or maybe something else? “Jeff’s been talking about wanting to fight me, so it made sense for me to come down and take a look an see what’s happening,” said Jones, who climbed into the ring with Floridians Andre Berto, Edner Cherry and Nate Campbell for between-fight introductions, then spent the duration of Lacy’s bout watching from a VIP row adjacent to Griffin’s corner. “He’s not really an opponent who was necessarily on my road map, but people don’t always work off the same road maps. It’d be a wonderful fight for Florida. But I’ll say what I already have been saying. I want Tomasz Adamek. I’ll fight Clinton Woods. And if those fights don’t get done, then sure, I’d fight Jeff.”
I think JOnes is putting his name into the Adamek mix, just to distrupt Hopkin's chances of fighting Adamek, and then make Bhop have to come and fight him instead. Roy JOnes really wants to fight Bhop. He wooped him once, and Roy would woop him again. Bhop deep down inside doesn't want anything to do with RJJ. Jones is intelligent and is trying to derail a Bhop/Adamek fight.
Adamek is a slow handed guy that dont throw alot of punches. He is the kind of guy that Both Jones and Hopkins could look good vs...
Adamek is revered in parts, but the facts are that he took over a barren division. He may be the Ring Champ, but when the second best fighter is Steve Cunningham, that says it all. Adamek was a good, world class lt heavy, got whipped by Dawson, and moved up. By the time he moved up, the elite of the division were either on their way up like Haye or on their way out like Mormeck. He's fun to watch, but he's a punching bag.
If Roy were to fight Adamek, it better be his last win or lose. It would not be wise for him to go from 200 to 175 again.
Share the drugs! If anyone doesn't want the fight, it's RJJ. He has more to lose fighting Hopkins. Fighting Adamek on the other hand, RJJ has nothing to lose. If he gets beat, he was too old for the younger, naturally bigger Adamek. Hopkins would thoroughly dominate Jones at this point, but so, too, would Adamek. :smoke
