In response to the thread title - mostly because Trinidad was a bigger name & had beat better fighters... also, Hopkins lost to the best fighter he ever fought & even tho he never disgraced himself vs Roy Jones (the best p4p at the time) he also never really had any defining victories vs elite p4p fighters as Tito had + Tito looked really good in his move up to MW in KOing Joppy, something B-Hop, the natural MW wasnt able to do.

Using hindsight, Trinidad never did have enough variety to beat Hopkins, Tito was a bit 1 dimensional but was no ordinary fighter either, he had tremendous heart & an enormous will with a couple of heavy hands, he was 1 of the greats of his own era, Hopkins was just wrong for him in far too many ways.

Most people had forgot about Hopkins very short & losing time as a LHW on his debut & if they remembered then that says as much as anything that MW was probably his ideal weight (true or not, its what it looked like)

The Winky-Tito fight was seen as 50/50 so the winner was never gonna be a suprise whoever won but the ease in which Wright won suprised a lot of people, myself included.
