It was a TKO because the ref. waves it off.If he had count to ten it has been a KO...
but who cares. He was Knocked the ****ed out...

It's a KO, I was asked the same question too, probably made a mistake with the announcement.

    Boxrec has it as KO.

It's normal for people to be confused, I also got confused when they called it a TKO rather than a clear KO.

Regardless of what Boxrec says, by rule its a TKO. A true "KO" only comes when a fighter does not rise by the count of 10. If the ref waves it off, or doesnt issue or complete a full count, it is officially a TKO according to ABC rules.

lol that was KO upon contact. IMO there's no need to count..safety comes first.

hmm says... TKO because there was no need for a count; his health was at risk. It's like DLH quitting on his stool, TKO, because his health was at risk if he continued.

Go watch the Marciano vs Walcott fight. The ref actually counts Walcott out when its quite clear he's probably dead. Glad that **** changed. Fighters could really get hurt.

the rule should be that refs count to 10 regardless, and only after the fighter makes it to his feet is the ref allowed to waive it off

I dunno, I agree with the others that it should be safety first. Hatton looked like he was in really bad shape after the KO. Bayless is a great ref and if he wanted to wave it off just so the doctors could get to Ricky faster, I totally agree with him.

Boxing is a dangerous enough sport as it is, there's no need to put lives in danger just to give a KO instead of a TKO so that Pac's record will look better.

QFT - But further more, I CAN understand when someone see's Calzaghe Manfredo and Pacquiao Hatton having the same result scratching their head... as evidenced by the thread I guess!
