But it's always been that way. It became even worse in the 80's with the newly formed IBF. But very very few boxing fans go beyond whatever the big networks show. Maybe 1 %. So lots of folks never bothered to watch a guy like Galaxy when he was on that ko string. As for the casual boxing fan? Not worth discussing. And they didn't believe it anyway---back to the network popularity thing.

It's so much easier now, but back in the 80's and 90's you spent the money or you didn't.

Same story we have all seen before.

Everyone looks great winning. Everyone will look as great as anyone ever did with everything going their way.

We should not judge a guy when he wins unscathed.

The trick is to hold back on judgment until you see the actual moments happen in a fight that don’t go their way that they are able to turn into positives.

 

When you take a totally one sided beating for 12 rounds not to mention his shoulder surgery.

 

People love boxers with power its that simple.

I might be one of the few but I don't think he was overrated at all and honestly gets sold short nowadays.

He was feared for a reason however short a time it was.

The loss to JC ruined him and he took a massive amount of punishment in that fight and was never the same again and as you know boxing is littered with fighters that suffered one loss and were never the same again.

 

A lot of American fighters get overhyped. Foreign fighters usually have to go above and beyond to get “credit” but the opposite applies to US fighters. Look at the hype around Gervonta Davis as a case in point.
