and you forgot dundee's arrangement with the ropes in the foreman fight. but i would not consider frazier smokeless even at the same level of seriousness you did. and ali should still be ranked above louis.

While the thread starter is a ****... He has an underlying point that can't be denied.. Louis record against top flight all time greats is sketchy at best or non existent... There is some truth in that. He didn't beat many all time greats... and the ones he did fight either were beating.. got robbed of a decision or he lost to. Sure beating the best available fighters out there is all you can do at times... but to me what should also be factored in is how he did and looked against all time greats as well...
atsch for ****s sake, read the posts above. schmeling = ATG heavyweight walcott = ATG heavyweight max baer = borderline ATG heavyweight that's three top 22 heavyweights louis beat. not to mention.... conn = ATG light heavyweight + great heavyweight buddy baer = good contender tony galento = good contender he also fought these men, and although he lost he still fought them. charles = ATG heavyweight, ATG heavyweight, P4P ATG marciano = ATG heavyweight
and your post disputes what exactly in my post... he lost to schmeling and was gifted a decision against Walcott.. so really it was exactly as I said.. were beating.. got robbed.. or he lost to. That statement is accurate with the ATG you just listed yourself... So what exactly was wrong with my post?
How many ATG heavyweights do have primes that overlap with other ATGs? If they dominate sombody in your prime, then by definition you deny them the possibility of becomeing a great. They effectivley devalue their opposition. If they loose to sombody, then they almost become great by default. They then beat a great fighter in the rematch. Then by some strange coincidence, the greatest fighter they ever meet, happens to come allong when they are shot and cannot place any curbs on his legacy and eventual standing.
