He was the 2nd best of a poor bunch of Middleweights. THe Fact that Calzaghe's crowning fight in his so called legacy was against Kessler says everything about Calzaghes quality of opponent. Kesslers best wins were against the a former Rugby League player Sven Ottke, and a 34 year old Marcus Beyer. Hes was an average belt holder who cashed in on his charm/good looks. Miranda vs Kessler will be a close fight. I would slate Calzaghe, but most people know hes a fraud so I wont waste my time.
The Fact that an average fighter like Kessler gets Plaudits on this Forum is crazy. Even Crazier when you consider far better Champions like Naseem Hamed get slated on here.
yes never lost around because he fough B rate fighters. You saw whathappened when he fought a 35 year old genuine World Class fighter. He was well beaten, not only that he was hurt badly to the body by a powder puff puncher in Clafaghe
Get off here idiot. Naz gets stick because he was an arrogant wanker, not because of a lack of ability. He thought he was the best fighter of all time, which clearly he wasn't, and did very little to endear himself to anyone, even his trainer, never mind the fans! Respected commentator John Rawling often recalls that many people attended/watched Naz's fights, hoping to see him beaten, to be able to tell their grandchildren that they were there!
We are not on here talkin about personality , if that was the case Kessler would be up there P4P, were talking about accomplishments /opposition quality of fighter. Kessler Beat nobodies, and Calzaghe has made a living of beating guys who are not remotlely great ie (Toney Jones Hopkins, washed up Eubanks)
An undefeated, unified champion in a STRONG division is a weak quality of opponent, sure. Let's add to the fact that the fighter in question had dominated every of his opponents up until the fight with Calzaghe and that his opposition until that route was very respectible, of the cut that most fighters wouldn't have so easily gone through. You look at all of these up and coming hype jobs struggling with mediocre opposition and getting praise for it and then Kessler dominates his way through solid opposition and gets the old 'he never fought anybody' non-sense. You mean... 'he never fought anybody that I recognise as I don't follow the world scene too well'.:yep The best thing recently was when a few idiots were suggesting that Kessler needs to 'step up' his opposition, that's hilarious considering that Mikkel did step up to one of the best fighters in the World in Calzaghe.
How many A level fighters are going around mate? Not that many, a strong B level fighter translates into top 5 material in a good division, and into a titlist in a poor division(see the current MW division). B's can't dominate other B's like Kessler did, which logic should dictate that he's an A- or so, if you can't see that from his fights already.:yep What fighters do you rate highly right now around those weight divisions? Only other A levels are Calzaghe and Chad Dawson, the rest are B's.
If ROy Jones was fighting BEyers /Mundines, he would get slated. Thats all Kessler fought until Calfagi. Kessler couldnt even put a dent in Mundine (didnt this Rugby player get Ko'd by Ottke?), yeah dominate....dominate what?
