He knew that Tony would have self doubts, its hard for a fighter to mentally get over being knocked out, especially when you have to rematch him and he has shown no signs of slowing or fading. Tony was beat after the 1st round wlad saw that, and jumped on him smart thing to do
I actually gave Thomspon the first 2 and had him winning the round he got KDd in. I think that when Tony landed those few short Ls and Wlad took them well enough, he decided that the danger was gone so he might as well finish it.:think
Wlad seems to be putting away people that don't belong in the ring with him early these days - Mormeck, now Thompson.
YES, I know Thompson is a southpaw, and that is why we saw some of the changes we did. Of course, that's a given. But, the arms a little lower, the crouching a bit instead of standing tall, going in more aggressive (really reminded me of Vitali's style a bit). These are all things that I believe Wladimir is working on, should a fight with someone such as Fury, or Price get made. It's also the same way I think Wlad would have fought Valuev, had that fight ever been made. More mobile (not just relying on the jab), and more aggressive. Now, if Wladimir fights someone smaller next, such as Povetkin..I think we'd see more of the way he usually fights. Two different styles for two different kinds of opponents. For lack of a better term, I'll call it the "under 6'5 and over 6'5" styles.
i think the bigger question is why does Thompson always land on his arm like hes taking a nap when he gets knocked down?
It has to with Wladimir is getting more confident, we will see more of that in his fights to come. But the main reason is because Thompson is a tricky, akward southpaw that has done his homework against wladimir. He knows wladimir controls everything with his jab and footwork/distance so he forces klitschko to use his right alot more and early on with his southpaw stance waiting for the jab while using his akward movement anticipating.
