Why was Lucas Matthysse-Zab Judah even close?

I don't see it as a bad loss for Matthysse as it's obviously close enough to have some differing opinion.

Certainly think it's a nice win for Judah's record though. Dude gets too much **** for how much he's done and who he's fought over the years.

The fight was wider than the judges score.

^This. Though I do think that fight could have went either way. While the Alexander fight on the other hand should have been a clear win for Lucas.

    Well couple factors.
Lucas used to fight much slower. He is a pretty systematic fighter from what i can tell. His punch placement is well thought. After getting robbed twice he has started much faster.

Also Zab got more power than Khan and better chin and he knows how to run away from a gun fight. Khan got one mode and that is attack, his defense is awful.

It was a combination of Matthysse starting slow as he used to with Judah fighting a very good defensive fight. Also he cause Matthysse with some huge uppercuts which have previously hurt full size WWs and Matthysse respected his power after that.

I still felt Matthysse won a close competitive fight but Judah to this day has given Matthysse his toughest fight.

you haven't been watching boxing for very long if you don't know that zab is very good when he's on point which is like 1 out of every 3 fights. matthysse fight being one of them. also amir beat zab with a low blow. either way as everyone should know styles make fights and amir beating judah with greater ease means absolutely nothing since Khan fights nothing like Judah. the only thing similar between zab and amir is speed, zabs way better defensively and technically and although zabs chin ain't good it's iron compared to khans. if zab wants to fight negative to avoid a ko he can do it, amir cannot, his footwork and D are horrible so he's definitely getting tagged at some point vs Matthysse which means goodnight for Khan.

It very a very close fight, which I reckon Zab nicked. Matthyse just started off slow, and there was lack of urgency. Had he turned the heat up a bit earlier, Zab would've been out of there.

Have you watched the fight? If not just watch it, score it and you'll realise it wasn't as close as the judges made it, and in no way did Judah actually win.

Lucas's style plays into Judah's strength.
