Ahh I see what you're saying now, however that isn't my argument in a nut shell, nor is it my argument at all.
But it does seem to be your argument in a nut shell. You are not explaining it any other way. You have not convinced anyone it isn't. The way it is coming across is You have said that you "don't know if the era is weak or not" but that it must be "weak by default" just because the guys were smaller. The era wasn't weak. The challengers were worthy. A percentage of the rated contenders would have been contenders in almost any era.. overall, the 1950s contenders were as big as the 1960s heavyweights. If it is only size that floats your boat then Ray, Valdes and Baker would be strong contenders in the 1970s or 1980s.
Not just that, I told him repeatedly I'm not just referring to the champion. I'm referring to the best men in the division, the top names. I just don't the see the top 4 or 5 of that era competing with the top 4 or 5 of this era.
Nothing really, the pertinent question is would the better, more talented, smaller guys beat the big fellas of the modern era?
That is the pertinent question certainly. But the question of the thread is not that. The question is was Marcianos era weak? The answer is not "they were smaller than they are now" It is a bad era now. much worse.
Let's just concentrate on if the era was weak in comparison to eras before P.E.D's. The top four or five of the post war era did not have to compete with a modern super sized superheavyweight era so we never got to see what they would have done with access to what ever is available in the future to compete with these inferior boxer's of enhanced size. Not only is this SHW era poor, Ortiz and Fury are both drugs cheats.
Hoff "only" listed as 6'3 yet looks so much bigger than Walcott. And he wasn't bigger than a modern cruiser That's either just elusive camera angles or Walcott isn't 6'0.
lol. I love how you didn't even consider that Hoff might be taller than listed. Instead it must be Walcott!
Kayode How often does a fighter being taller than listed happen? It's very common to inflate the height of fighters. On the other hand, unless somebody is 7'0 it just doesn't really happen that the height is bigger than listed. I did consider Hoff being taller, it's just extremely unlikely "it must be" I gave two possible reasons, and the other was clever angles Reznick, you're a psychotic moron.
