Why was Mosley able to hurt PBF and not Cotto?

I wouldn't read too much into it. Hitting the button just right can happen to anyone at any time or not happen to someone, at any time.

 

Floyd's chin is wildly overrated on this forum, but to be honest I agree with Boxed Ears. I wouldn't read too much into it. Different nights, different punches, different connections, etc. James Kirkland had never been stopped, then Ishida (7 kos in 22 wins previously) wiped him out in a round. This kind of thing happens in boxing.

 

He hit Floyd with a beautiful right hand on the temple that Floyd did not see which would hurt anyone. He put everything he had into that shot. Floyd stayed up. Its easier to take power shots that you see coming. Some fighters react different from punches. **** Zab Judah had Cotto hurt but Cotto took Shane's shots.

 

Mosley stunned Mayweather a bit with the first right hand, but the second one hurt him more IMO, with Floyd's legs doing a bit of a dance. It's why when people ask if Floyd's legs are gone, I say no. Sure he obviously isn't going to be able to glide and move around the ring like in his early 20s, but his legs are still sturdy. Otherwise he would have hit the deck.

Maybe Miguel has a better chin than Floyd @ WW, maybe he doesn't, it's just a single comparison. It didn't appear that Floyd saw that second right hand by Shane, and it hit him hit on the head, around the temple area. Less likely to cause a KO, but more likely to screw up your equilibrium and have you out of it for a bit.

 

That's true, Judah did hurt Cotto way more than he hurt Floyd. He had Cotto rocking more than once, and Floyd was only mildly perturbed by Judah's fast shots early. Swings and roundabouts.

 

Floyd's chin is overrated. Hell everything about him is overrated.

I thought Cotto got hurt in the late rounds when the ref stopped the fight to clean a wet spot? I haven't seen the fight in a year though. Anyway, people react different to punches. As said before, Zab hurt Cotto alot in their fight but barely hurt Floyd.
