Why was Mosley able to hurt PBF and not Cotto?

Simple: Cotto tucks his chin in, making it touch his chest, so even if you hit him on the chin the shock will be partially absorbed by the chest. Cotto has an iron chin to begin with, and that additional protection makes him very hard to knock down.

Floyd was caught because of a clever instruction given to Shane by Naazim: hit Floyd to the body and then quickly throw a powershot to the head. Floyd only made the mistake once, as you saw. He adjusts very quickly to his opponent.

Or it could be that Cotto was just gassing out like he always does.

I did say my previous post was the last, but just to show people who they are "debating" with...

Floyd's conviction would be the greatest thing that ever happened in boxing.
Floyd couldnt KO Shane in 100 fights, Pac will KO him in one.
The issue is not whether Pac beats Mosley, but HOW he does it.

I wouldn't call copy and paste painstaking really. What happened to your avatar Pek Pek? Did you eventually give it a shave?

    Anyway...ignore.

I don't know, boxing has a lot of wtf moments in and out of the ring. Morrison had a questionable chin yet he took some big punches from Foreman, etc. things like that we can't really explain.

The ref only halted the action because Shane complained of the wet spot in the corner after slipping.

I don't think Shane would have cared much about a wet spot on the canvas if he felt he had Cotto hurt, nor do I think the sequence was nearly as serious as the HBO commentary made it seem ("Cotto staggering"). It was almost like Jim Lampley was having a Gus Johnson moment. On the Setanta broadcast where Joe Tessitore and Wally Matthews called the action, the sequence wasn't nearly as dramatic.

Yes indeed, Cotto was hurt in the 10th round when Mosley, not the ref, asked to stop the fight because of that wet spot, Cotto was hurt at that time. Nos as hurt as May, but I still think that if Mosley continued his attack instead of telling the ref that the corner was wet, he would've Ko'd Cotto.

Mosley did hurt Cotto, which is why Cotto got on the bike for the last half of the fight.

Okay here's the entire round, can you point out at what particular moment Cotto gets hurt?

This sequence kinda reminds of the Cotto-Pinto fight. In the 2nd round there was an exchange of punches, then shortly afterwards Cotto started to fight off the backfoot. Lampley and Steward both were saying Pinto landed something that had Cotto thinking twice and even hurt him. Not even 30 seconds later Cotto drops Pinto with a counter left hook while fighting with his back against the ropes.

Skip to 4:20 on the Youtube timer...

It seems like people automatically assume Cotto is in trouble when he's fighting off the back foot.

i can't stand Floyd, and I agree with you he needs to do time for his crimes, just like you or I would. But I can't see Cotto beating Floyd. Manny's speed gave him (Cotto) fits and Floyd has just as much hand speed.

    Floyd UD.

Floyd has a low punch resistance.

People ignore this because he hasn't been knocked out cold, but it's entirely possible.
