    Yes I think that,. Pryor beat who as a pro ???? Very overrated fighter. WhT stage in his career was arguello ? What was his natural weight class, How far did he move up? Easy fight even ko, plus never compare Pryor to Duran .. Totally different levels!!!!

    I give Pryor his due. He could hang with Leonard but Whitaker beats them both.

    Not sure how true this is, but the following is of wikipedia;

    In December 1980, Pryor rejected an offer of $500,000 to fight Sugar Ray Leonard for the WBC welterweight championship because he wanted more money. When the offer was increased to $750,000, he rejected that as well.

    Pryor signed to fight WBC junior welterweight champion Saoul Mamby in a unification bout for $1 million. The bout was tentatively scheduled for February 7, 1981. However, the fight fell apart when the promoter, Harold Smith, disappeared amid allegations that he was involved in a $21.3 million fraud against Wells Fargo National Bank. Smith, whose real name was Ross Fields, was later sentenced to ten years in prison after he was convicted of 29 counts of fraud and embezzlement.

    Pryor was then offered $750,000 to fight Roberto Duran in April 1981, but he turned it down because his new attorney told him not to sign anything until he worked out a new contract with manager Buddy LaRosa. By the time they worked out a new agreement, the chance to fight Duran was gone.

    Pryor signed to face Sugar Ray Leonard for the undisputed welterweight championship in the fall of 1982 for $750,000. But before fighting Pryor, Leonard first had to defend his title against Roger Stafford in Buffalo, New York on May 14, 1982. The Sunday before that bout, Pryor was driving to Buffalo from his Cincinnati home to taunt Leonard, to hype their planned bout, when he heard on his car radio the news that Leonard had suffered a detached retina in his left eye and the fight was off. "I pulled off to the side of the road and I cried," Pryor said. Leonard retired six months later.

    Shortly before Pryor made his comeback, his proposed multimillion-dollar fight with WBA lightweight champion Ray Mancini fell through when Mancini was knocked out by Livingstone Bramble on June 1, 1984. "Aaron Pryor actually cried," Said Bob Arum. "I saw the tears."

    As I said earlier, I don't know how true the above is as it is from wikipedia, but if true, Pryor suffered from bad advice and bad luck. It is a pity the fight with Duran wasn't made. That would have been an all time great fight.

    It was a career high pay day for pryor. but the split was 80/20 which was a slap in the face and insult.

    Yes,and he should have. Leonard was a huge global star,that fight could have propelled Pryor to an even bigger fan base win or lose. Back then boxing was big,leonard was one of the most popular athletes in the world.

    One of the most overrated fighters of all time.

    2 good victories of great fighters, one over a shot Cervantes and the two epics over ATG Arguello.

    He was an exciting but flawed fighter, Hearns, Leonard and Duran all do him imo.

    Didn't Duran have to accept that, and he was ****ed? I remember hearing that he couldn't believe Leonard was getting more money than him when he was 71-1 victor of 13 title fights, and had beaten the likes of Buchanan, Palomino, De Jesus, Viruet, Mamby, and Marcel. At that time Leonard had only beaten Benitez and Mayweather and had about two title defenses, but he was popular from the Olympics.

    What a sad ridiculous story,he must of been surrounded by idiots to keep turning down those offers?
    I guess it's like Mayweathers era,Floyd like Sugar is the golden boy and the big earner,I've read how it rankled Hagler but he unlike Pryor carried on regardless and built up his own value as a fighter.

    Having seen a programme today about the dangers they face I'm all for em earning as much as they can in what could be a short window of opportunity.
