Why was no Pryor vs. Duran,Leonard,Hearns

Different weight class.

Leonard and Hearns were champs at 147, Pryor was a champ at 140. Pryor did challege Leonard at a press conference, to little avail. Leonard had other lucrative (and very challenging as well) options.

Pryor was actually supposed to fight Duran at a catchweight of 150, in 1981, but the deal went through.

sugar ray leonard didn't want the pryor fight, stylistically it would have been a bad match up for leonard as pryor's aquard style could cause him many problems. Leonard hasd the oppurtunity to take the fight but chose otherwise because he probably believed that pryor wasn't as good as he was made out to be, looking back he probably regrets not taking the fight because a win over pryor just adds to his resume, at the time of when the fight was offered there was less to gain and more to lose by fighting pryor.

Pryor was an unknown until he beat an old past prime Arguello in 1982 and to those clueless people who claim Leonard ducked him can they remind everyone what Ray was doing at the time? He was retired! He made a comeback in 84 did not look good and then came back in 87 to fight Hagler. And mean while Pryor was all but shot by 85 so when do you think this fight should have happened?

If you want to fight the star you go to him Pac is moving up to fight Oscar as did Floyd. Duran wanted to fight Leonard so he vacated the lightweight titles and moved up, Pryor simply stayed at 140 and said none of them wanted to fight him. Just because Pryor says they ducked does not make is so he also said there was just water in the "black bottle" which explains why it was called "special mix" right?

 

Pryor begged to fight Leonard but Leonard didn't take the bout.They had a sparring session in which Leonard dropped Pryor and then Pryor dropped Leonard.

 

Thats an myth that floats around boxing forums. Its just not true.
