Mayweather playing it safe and out boxing him and his offense not being very good did not suprise me only a mad person would actually believe Mayweather would fight Manny toe 2 toe.

I feel they both were focusing so much on defense and not getting hit that nothing was ever being thrown. That makes for a HORRIBLE fight, even if they're portraying good defensive skills.

Mayweather having no offense isn't saying I expected him to go toe to toe. Mayweather didn't throw much while missing a lot of punches he threw. I think according to compubox it was BOTH of their worst offensive performances... Though compubox is not reliable.

They both could've done better- Pacquiao especially.

The only people who should have ever been surprised should be casuals. Look at floyds style vs Manny **** goes FMJ's way 99.5 times out of 100. Manny still an ATG though.

Mayweather does have an offense, see Cotto, Maidana 1, Mosley, Alvarez... Canelo he just started beating the hell out of him for his cheek, remember that sublime uppercut? The other three forced him into the trenches, Mosley got ****ing SLAUGHTERED and would have been stopped very easily if he wanted because of round 2, Cotto he almost dropped in round 12 and Maidana was an absolute war where he had to stop this raging maniac because he was down 5-1 halfway through. He fights to his opponent's level most of the time, it's how he is. PBF era he had a sensational offence - defence transition. Pacquiao, well he allowed Floyd to coast, that's not slight on him as a career, just this fight it was one of the likeliest outcomes if Roach didn't prepare his fighter properly... to be honest though he seemed to be relying on Manny being the faster fighter, following him aimlessly to the ropes, what is Manny going to do there, he isn't bigger than Mayweather, they're deceptively strong as one another and Manny has no notable inside game, Mayweather does. I don't know what he was thinking if that was a 5 year grand strategy. Floyd didn't have a 5 year grand strategy, he was just Floyd, that's where they ****ed up imo.

It came down to one guy having more facets to his game.

Pacquiao has no inside game. Even Clottey had some success fighting on the inside in the 11th round of his fight with Pacquiao.

What was frustrating was when Pacquiao didn't even try to fight or avoid the clinches. He'd just rest in them with Floyd and wait for Bayless to break them up.

Or when Mayweather was doing some dirty tricks (glove in face, head lock, pulling arm, etc) Manny never got mad and fought back. He only got more frustrated.

That's not even the right mentality to have when you fight Mayweather. You have to show him zero respect or he'll demoralize you throughout the fight by making you as uncomfortable as possible.

I agree, I would never say Manny's a one trick pony, you don't win fights just by being quick or Berto and Khan would be pound for pound, but being as fast as these guys doesn't hurt... and when you add that to a brain like Mayweather's with an almost impregnable defense and intelligent, precise offense... you get one hell of a puzzle to contend with. Manny's brain for the most part is Roach, which is no shame, not everyone is a Hopkins or Mayweather and he let Manny down.

The people who thought Floyd was going to stand and trade with Pacquiao are idiots.

Boxing is about neutralizing your opponent's strengths, while maximizing your own.

Pacquiao doesn't know how to fight out of a clinch, I can't remember him ever doing much but stare blankly at the referee when somebody ties him up, his inside game is practically non-existent.

Look at how lost Pacquiao was when Bradley clinched him in their rematch.
