Exactly, it's a credit to him that he's achieved so much with the faults he has but you can say that about countless fighters, he simply punishes guys who try to get on the inside usually so has never had to refine that part of his game, Rios for example, Margarito, these are guys who would love to get there but they have little chance to do it and get peppered hellaciously. But when guys who have different faces to their game can clinch him, that's where he's going to have trouble being interrupted, it's a testament to Manny how he dealt with Bradley twice (suppose his ankles didn't help but everyone has excuses lol) who gave him many different approaches and a testament to Floyd he used this simple strategy effectively when Pacman is actually an expert at diffusing it usually.

I imagine he knows how to he just doesn't want to. I think he is just trying to draw it to the refs attention.

I know. And what's sad is Freddie HIMSELF thought Mayweather was going to trade with Pacquiao. Wtf?!?!

Remember the day before, Roach inspected Floyd's gloves. You know how usually Floyd wears orthopadded gloves? Well, Roach said Floyd was wearing, "The smallest gloves I've ever seen in my life." Roach also said they expected Floyd to come in at 160-165 pounds. Because of those two things, he said he thought Floyd was going to try and knock Manny out in the fight.

This is probably what lead them to making Manny come in higher than he's ever come in before which was a terrible idea, but I guess once they thought Mayweather was going to be much more offensive and heavy they decided to bring him up to 152.

Just horrible all around. What they thought Mayweather was going to do, he did the opposite (and none of it should've been surprising in the least). Trade? Nope, he boxed like USUAL! Heavy? Nope, he came in less than Manny at 147. Smh. :-(

But it would have been to his immense advantage if he excelled at avoiding/fighting out of the clinch even slightly, he has gotten away with it because of his other talents, how could Roach not have suspected Floyd would identify such a clear weakness? Mayweather is a jack of all trades and let's be honest, master of all of them too even if he doesn't have to use them every fight.

You'd think Roach would've put emphasis on that in training. :-(

Mayweather said once in a interview about Pac he makes alot mistakes but is still successful which is true.

I was intrigued as to how Roach would teach Manny to cut off the ring effectively in 1 camp as even against Algieri he was pretty disappointing doing that despite putting him down legit 4 or 5 times.
edit - I'm being harsh here, he didn't need to really try much let's be honest and Algieri fended off Provodnikov so he's no slouch at avoiding.

He even had GGG visit the gym, maybe that guy who is 'nothing special' could have taught him a few things.

I predicted a stinker of a fight and also that Floyd would win a decision. But I don't think most people are as realistic as me and expected some fireworks.

If you mean, why are people surprised that Floyd won, I guess it's because Pacquiao is still a very good fighter, is a live dog in any fight, and Floyd has shown signs of decline himself. I still think despite his decline Pacquiao would have a 40 percent chance to win if he wasn't injured.

Lol I was just about to say that. Roach told GGG that day that he was better than Manny at cutting off the ring. Golovkin should teach Manny cutting the ring and how to fight in a clinch too. I'd think Manny would be too prideful to accept that kind of help though.

I think he would be receptive to the idea, especially after the Floyd loss, he may realize he has to learn something new to compete with Mayweather and finally convincingly do something to Marquez or stick around long enough to fight a more experienced Brook or more experienced Thurman and dominate them nearing 40, if he elevated his game even at this stage he may reach a higher pinnacle as there's no doubt he's still an A-class fighter.

Mayweather doesn't take risks, and Manny was gun shy worried about counters. Boring fight. Manny and his team were on some serious drugs trying to outbox Floyd Mayweather Jr. with that feint and bait strategy. As if one big shot and a flurry was going to do it. Delusional.

The only way that fight is exciting is if Manny decides to go for broke. And that version of Manny is still dead inside the ring due to JMM's right hand. That Manny is never coming back based on what I saw in his fight against Floyd. The man clearly has that JMM punch in the back of his mind.
