Why was the k2 tv contract such a big deal?

Another thing is why didn't the Klitschko's approach RTL about the problem and ask them if they would be prepared to offer more to get the fight made?

Yes they've already got a contract but I would think RTL would see it as better to offer another £1m to get a fight made against Haye rather than paying the Klitschko's £3m (?) per fight for fighting bums.

Chef would be the expert but I think Wlad fights with RTL even though they pay less because it is a free public TV channel in Germany and allows his fights to be seen live by more people. Haye wanted Wlad to be on a different German channel because there would be more money to split. IMO if Haye was #2 it would be worth it for Wlad to fight him (and pay him more than 50-50) to reestablish the Linear Heavyweight Title.

There is no other channel in Germany who can bid more than RTL for two reasons:
    1. K2 and RTL have an ongoing contract which goes on for the next few years. All sums for fights are fix.
    2. RTL is the biggest, most powerful and richest TV station in Germany.

Honestly, Haye isn't known in Germany. Why would he be? Klitschko is the draw so RTL wouldn't be expected to pay more money because Haye is popular/known in the UK.

Even if they would succeed in making him known in Germany everyone would just still expect another day at the office for Wlad.

Because Wlad knows if he approached RTL and somehow could convince them then Haye would find another excuse. Don't you see through Haye's scheme of talking himself out of fights with the brothers?

Wlad has done more than anyone could ask from him to make this happen. Haye has done jack**** other than making demands which get met and then coming up with new demands along the way. As mandated by the IBF, Wlad had a total of four weeks until May 17th to find a deal with Haye, otherwise the IBF threatened to strip him. Remember that during that time Adam Booth has saying they are not interested in discussing a fight right now and Haye said he needed a rest and a vacation. That's how it went down. Now Haye claims he was eager to fight Klitschko in September, then why didn't he say so in April and May?

The truth is Haye and Booth were hiding in April and May. Period.

Haye's main problem is that he signed a slave contract with Sauerland. They own options on Haye's next two fights and that means any money he makes is going to be shared with Sauerland. That's why Haye is unhappy with "just 50%". His 50% become less than 50% after Sauerland takes their share. Haye is obviously trying to buy time, get rid of Sauerland and then try fight Wlad in 2011 and then keep all of his 50% to himself.

Obviously none of Haye's option problems are to be blamed on Wlad though, but that's what Haye is trying to do. It's embarrassing to see so many gullible folks here on the forum buying into Haye's baseless and entirely fictional side of the story.

It's amazing to see how people these days already forgotten that there is a thing like free TV. It's a cultural difference and I'm very glad there are cultures where people do NOT want to pay to see a single event and except to see it on a normal TV for the normal monthly or yearly fee they are paying.

obviously wlad would be a massive favourite. i do feel the vitali fight would be 50/50 tho.

the thing i dont get about haye's excuse/reason is that he is basically saying he wants the maximum revenue from each territory. that is simple. and understandable. he is saying that he wants 50% of the maximum money. again it is kinda understandable because in he's own head he is a legitimate champ and whilst i dont think he deserves 50/50 vs wlad, i can understand why he would think he does.

so wladimir is contracted to rtl, and has been for some time. and wlad is willing to give haye 50% of the rtl revenue.

so the official reason haye didnt accept the contract is because rtl isnt giving the maximum revenue.

what rival offer does haye have? and is the difference really worthy of a dealbreaker? tbh i dont buy it.

None. Remember Haye now owes options to Sauerland and Sauerland has a contract with government station "ARD". You could compare ARD to Britain's BBC. Government run and financed by the general public.

    Now get this.

Sauerland's current contract has recently been extended by 12 months, into 2012. That means an additional 10 boxing shows. Guess what ARD's budget for all of these 10 shows is? A total of 14 million EUR. That's 1.4 million per event. These main events are fights such as Valuev, Huck and Abraham.

Now why would ARD (who are not ad financed but financed by tax payers' money) compete for an ADDITIONAL fight beyond what they already paid for (which brings them ZERO revenues since they can't run commericals during the fight), just in order to outbid commercial and fully ad-financed RTL?

If RTL pays money to the Klitschkos they make the money back via ads. ARD doesn't make the money back if they buy "expensive" fights.

How dumb are people to buy into this lie of Haye's? Haye is full of **** and anyone buying into his excuse and argumentation is a dumb moron.

I agree with Haye's reasoning, but then him and Booth should never have said that they will only accept a 50% split right down the middle, otherwise they will decline any Klitschko offer. Turns out they were offered what they wanted and then Haye turned around and changed his mind like a little *****.

    :thumbsup

Wlad offers 50:50 with no options, and this is much more Haye deserves. Wladimir is the reigning Champion. Who the **** is David Haye as Heavyweight.

At the end of the story Haye will fight Holyfield :bart

If Haye gets offered ALL the money from the tv and all the purse then he would still walk away from the fight and try to spin it so that it looks like he has been hard done by.
