Why was the late great Emmanuel steward (Lord rest) so disapproving of Tyson's trainer's advice?

In the Lewis vs Tyson fight, if I'm not mistaken Ronnie shields was the trainer for Mike Tyson. How come after the fight Manny steward (rip) said "what were you thinking Ronnie? Having Tyson fight while using a jab c'mon? " I personally feel like Tyson had a great round one pumping the jab but ... What else was he supposed to do? Look for one shot??.

Yes I agree Tyson shot his load in round one but he did land at least one creative calculated two punch combo on Lewis. Essentially he was still dangerous in the late rounds a surly steward told Lennox to knock him the eff out. But my question is, what effective approach should team Tyson have taken? Like the op said in a similar post "Tyson had nothing left."

It wouldn't have mattered. Tyson was completely done by that point. The first round in the Lewis fight is the exact same as the third round in the rematch with Holyfield where he threw everything but the kitchen sink at Holyfield in that round. After shooting his load, instead of taking a beating, he decided to get himself disqualified in order to save face. The only difference is that in the Lewis fight, he decided to take his beating that day in spades.
