i saw a video of vargas sitting down with lampley saying he wanted a rematch.... i mean i think he could have KO'd tito if it wasnt for gettin hit in the balls like 6 times... so why no rematch??

He wanted to have the ability to have kids someday; his nuts couldn't take that kind of beating again.

He was knocked down 5 times in that fight, if I remember correctly. I doubt his handlers wanted to put him back in there with Trinidad for his own safety.

yea he couldve knocked out trinidad every time he hurt tito..including knocking him down it was a cement left hook to the nuts... if they had a rematch they know that would be a issue an not be so linient on it... ne way it was a good fight that i think shoudve had a rematch

Vargas would've died in the rematch...Tito ruined his career, I doubt very much Vargas wanted a rematch...I think it was just the right thing for Vargas to say, but in reality, nah!

I would not have wanted to have seen that fight, too dangerous for Vargas, could have been seriously hurt.

Why are you so worried about Vargas' nuts...I would've thought that Delahoya and the Klitschkos balls was enough to fill your mouth.

If anyone ACTUALLY knows the answer to this question I would love to know. I have wondered about this as well.

This makes sense, cause this is also around the time he started chasing a fight with DLH. :deal

Vargas was badly beaten in the fight and to throw him in there into an immediate rematch would have been a serious risk in his long term health and possibly life...Tito moved on to a higher weight and it just never happened again

I don't think he was that badly beaten. If memory proves correct he was knocked out in twelfth and gave Tito two knockdowns. I could be wrong there, it's been awhile since I saw the fight. But he did get decked in the balls several times. I don't care what anyone says, if you take it to the balls you are not the same fighter you were before the illegal blow. Just as in Cotto/Judah if you bang someone to the balls more than once (and I'm talking serious hits not accidental hits below the belt) you should have a point removed or be guarenteed a rematch. The damage from such blows is just that debilitating. Sure, they might not have a permanent injury but their legs are robbed from them and they gas out earlier. Plus, Vargas wasn't thinking this way, calling out DLH is not exactly trying to get a tune up fight.

Why is there even a thread on this? Tito Vargas was one of the WORST beatdowns in the history of boxing.
