Yeah, this is a weird one. I think the loss to Jones was a big mental blow which it took time to recover from, and by the time he fought Jirov I think he'd started juicing.

he probably had a worse period in his career, which often happens to undisciplined fighters. They don't train properly all the time, they are not always 100%. Ray Mercer is an example...

Aye, you beat me to it Bok with the mental aspect of the Jones defeat, good point. Must have been a big blow to someone of Toneys truculent nature and high opinion of himself as an old school throwback to be humbled so badly in the biggest fight of his career.

Yeah, he showed up with a gun at his manager's house after the fight, blaming her for the loss. He lost the plot.

On a Monday Night baseball game, Cosell was arguing with the late great Bob Uecker. Cosell told Bob he was being truculent and I bet you don't know what that word means. Uecker said with no hesitation Yes I do. If you lent me a truck, that would be a truck you lent.

I think by the time he was fighting at 175 he was having too much difficulty managing his weight

I think that's a myth. He came in at 182 for the CW rubber with McCallum. 8 lbs under the limit for that fight, and just 7 lbs over the LHW limit. That shouldn't be much of an issue with the day befor weigh-in.

Depends on how hard he had to kill himself to get to that 182 and was still over the light heavy limit.

It was 8 lbs under the weight limit. So obviously he didn't rehydrate after the weigh-in. His weight must have been pretty much the same in the ring. And with an in ring weight of just over 180, making 175 at the weigh-in shouldn`t be much of a problem.

I don't know why he took those bouts against Griffin.

Years before that Griffin was up at Galaxy, for a couple of days, giving James fits sparring.

I find it hilarious. The guy is bragging about being unable to wait to slam into a whole heap of BK. It sums him up well.
