I remember it like being an undercard fight for some heavyweight fight, I think it was one of the Klitschko´s. The first fight was very good, so why didnt they make such a big deal out of the second fight?
The fight wouldn't sell plain and simple. Neither Castillo nor Mayweather generated enough star power to sell a big pay-per-view. It was on he undercard of Wlad Klitschko - McCline by the way. One of the worst HBO cards I've ever seen.
The scores were definately biased, both could have gotten the decision, a bit sad Castillo didnt get it, but as far as I remember Mayweather won like 5 out of the first 6 rounds.
After the first fight I remember the commentators gushing all over how the rematch was pay-per-view worthy. Lampley and Merchant don't make the HBO broadcasting decisions so in the end the network put the fight on the undercard of a lesser heavyweight fight.
No, he wasn't. How long have you been watching this sport? Everybody knows that Mayweather didn't get the name he has now till he beat Gatti.
Yeah exactly, thats why I was very surprised today when I watched the second fight again, and realized that it was the undercard of a Kltschko fight.
Well Im only 19 years old, and have been watching boxing for a very long time. But when you live in Denmark, there are no American boxing fights on tv except if it was a Mike tyson or Oscar de la hoya.
Neither guy was much of a name, man. Lamps and Merchant just highly over-estimated the drawing power of those two fghters. The first fight wasn't exactly 'Fight of the Year' potenial either. Good thing they didn't stick that horrendously boring rematch on a pay-per-view. If I want to see a black guy run around for 36 minutes I'll just watch one of those Kenyans run a marathon.
