That fight broke my heart. I was 12 years old and thought Mike was gonna knock his ass out in 1 round
I was prety sure Mike was gonna get his ass kicked but I had my fingers crossed hoping for a miracle. It was hard to see my all-time favorite fighter take a horrendous beating like that. Only time I've ever felt genuinly sad after a fight. I was completely bummed till the next day.
Yeah me too, because I was on the hype that Mike was a beast. Where I come from, people dont know **** about boxing. All they know is Mike tyson, thats why I believed the hype
I'm not paticularly a fan of Tyson, but that was a sorry sight. I felt a similar kind of thing watching DLH-PAC, and to a lesser degree, Hamed-Barrera.
Right off the bat, the smaller weight classes don't sell as much anyways. The casual fans normally get drawn into bigger fights starting around 140lbs +...
When you become a true boxing fan..it's hard to understand but the occasional casual ones are simply more drawn to the bigger boys ! Subconsciously to the casual fans, the bigger boys = Possible instant KOs = Possible more excitement, even if it ain't necessarily true...
yea well theres a reason he isn't with top rank anymore.. the beating he put on Gatti was one of the most one sided fights I have ever seen..
Yeah, i think most thought that. And if it was any other opponent than Lennox Lewis i would have expected that to
Yeah it always suck when you watch boxing with somebody who dont know **** about the sport at all, and you think they are telling the truth about Mike knocking Lewis out. Immediately after that fight, I started watching boxing without giving a damn what their opinion was Im serious man, nobody in my neighbourhood knows anything about boxing.
