We all know that the whole of the UK watched Pretty Boy Floyd put on a masterpiece of a performance in destroying the one dimensional Hatton so why tell me, why didn't he get the BBC International Sports Person of the Year award-(I thought the so-called experts choose this award and not the public?)

...In relation to this ,why can't Hatton's huggrs (if there any left)email/post on BBC message boards arguing for PBF to have been the International Sports person of the Year (at least to make up for their disgraceful behaviour in Vegas):deal

because federer is better at what he does than PBF is at boxing.

But isn't it tiring that they always have to choose between Federer and Woods:roll: ...don't they want to promote boxing longterm (or is that it now that Hatton was made to look silly)

calzaghe won the main award, that's promoting boxing to the fullest, and with enzo picking up the coaches award it makes it even better.

tiresome? yeah, maybe we should just ban arsenal, liverpool, chelsea and united next season from the premiership because it's tiresome. federer and woods are simply better at what they do, that's no slight on floyd but these two are on the verge of becoming the GOAT's of their profession, and their domination is unrivalled.

you can't just hand the award out to someone else to freshen things up, roger deserved it, simple as that.

You think it's because Hatton was made to look silly that Floyd didn't get the vote?

Federer has made Tim Henman look silly for years when he was British number 1. That has nothing to do with it.

K2Ray, again another British vendetta.... really shame on you.

Roger Federer is perhaps one of the greatest living sportstars in the world today. He dominates his sport and has done so for several years now.

I hear you cry 'So has Floyd Mayweather!!! He is the P4P king, has been dominant for years too, and is unbeaten'

Unfortunately for Floyd this is the Sports Personality of the Year Award. Although Floyd may have shown he is actually a decent, nice fella in reality (from his post fight I/V with the Merchant, and the post fight presser), he has shown all too often a general lack of respect for fighters past and present to sell fights, rather than be himself.

As a final note, Tennis is generally (in the UK anyway - as I'm sure you've researched on Google Search or Wikipedia) shown on terrestrial TV (Wimbledon) or on Sky without needing PPV to watch, thus making it accessible to a wider fan base, meaning it was far more likely that Federer would ship the award over Floyd. Who no one disputes is a highly talented athlete.

you see it's kind of like styles in boxing, roger whilst top class on clay, isn't as good as nadal on it.

...and if floyd got in the ring with paul williams, i believe he'd be giving his first L.

if the punisher a better fighter than floyd? **** no, but his style would give PBF fits.

to pick holes in federer's greatness is foolish.

Roger Federer - and deserved, to take all the Grand Slams on the vastly different surfaces is a major feat. Especially considering Nadal's dominance over Federer (and everyone else) on Clay.

Exactly my point. So why should he have won it this year (if he's alwayes winning the other three)?

It just would have been nice if PBF had won and then people in the Uk might remember him the day after:roll:

Because Federer has dominated his sport in every area winning 3 Grand slams this year.

Where as Mayweather has beaten a past-it fighter, and a guy fighting out of his weight.

Becasue in recent history, save for Sampras, nobody has single handidly dominated Tennis like Federer. He is also a class act in interviews, seems a genuinely top bloke, and continues to win win win.

As I said I would very much douby in today's day and age FLoyd would take the award. US fights are on too late, only die hard boxing fans stay up to 4am here to watch Cotto - Moseley, general sports fans will only tune in at that time to watch a Lewis, Calzaghe or Hatton. He doesn't get the exposure, and doesn't carry the class Federer does. Thus he doesn't take the award.
