Maybe it's the tv dates, maybe 2 fights in a year was enough or maybe he just was lazy

Lockett was 'selected' as the best opponent available according to Bob Arum. He also happened to be WBO mandatory. It wasn't a mandatory that had to be fought at that time, much has Pavlik hasn't and isn't scheduled to fight Rubio, who is mandatory for his WBC title.

He may have fought more times in a year then Taylor did while champ.

But atleast Taylor was actually defending the title.

This is KP's second non title fight this year.

KP has only defended the title once and he will have been champ for more than a year after he fights Hops.

 Ouma was far from a bum.

The Ouma that Taylor beat would've beat the dog **** out of Gary Lockett.

Because he is preparing for SMW - that takes alot more preparation - else he would be murdered.

Yeah but one of those fights was against the person you are defending, and the only reason it wasn't a title fight was because TAYLOR said they had to fight at a higher weight. It is Taylor's fault the fight wasn't a title fight.

The rematch did throw a wrench into Pavlik fighting at 160.

That's it though. Lockett sucks and Hops is at 170.

Sure Lockett was a mandatory and there aren't a lot of options at 160.

But at the end of the day KP's still only made 1 title defense and that was against Gary Lockett.

I'm a big KP fan but the thread was about Pavlik's activity and Taylor's while he was champ.

Truth be told Taylor defended at a higher rate than KP has so far.

Ouma was miles away from being a bum....but he was undersized.
