Why watch the same fights over and over again?

If you haven't watched it multiple times, then you almost certainly haven't assimilated everything important.

Yes, but you see even more different when you watch a different fight. For example, you learn a LOT more watching Hagler v. Briscoe, Antuofermo, Minter, Sibson, Hearns, Mugabi, and Leonard once or twice each then you learn watching him fight Hearns and Mugabi 5-10 times each.

Well yes, but in some fights you can almost see more watching one over and over and then other fights over and over. And sometimes you watch a fight from the different fighters perspective. Watching it from Curry's point of view and what he could do with Mike, and I saw Mike being so strong Curry had a tough road. Yet I saw Mike having the size advantage which even though they fought evenly, you could see after watching it what Mike could do. But I agree to see a fighters true skill, you have to watch all the fights. I try to.. Even Mike vs. Watson you can see how Mike works his punches to the body and then head.

    For studying, and inspiration.

This can lead to hero worship though, but motivates fighters such as myself, especially the younger ones.

I like watching boxing, same as I like watching films.
The best ones (films or fights) I can watch over and over and always enjoy them and appreciate them more and more.
No different to listening to a good album too. If it's great I'll listen to it loads.

For studying, one of the more standout bouts for me is Duran vs DeJesus 3.
Duran shows every little skill working in fluid combination. Could watch over and over again to pick out specific skills.
Harada Vs Jofre is also gold for studying in my opinion, I mean two of the best bantams ever, going at it. No need to explain. I scored their second bout today, so it was fresh on my mind. I try to study alot of bouts, old and new for any new or known skills.

For hero worship, its very easy to fall into in regards to Salvador Sanchez, and it is completely understandable. The early death, the great bouts and skills. When I was younger I was very much a hero worshipper of Chava, and am still a massive fan, though not as biased haha. Sanchez is also a great fighter to study, in particular the Lopez, Gomez and Nelson bouts.

Movies seem like a good analogy, thanks. But do you feel that way about sporting events in any other sports?

Honestly one of my favorite things about rewatching old fights is getting a snapshot into what life was like during that particular time in history...
Whether the fight was 5 years ago or 75 years ago, I always spend much of the bout watching people in the crowd, corner men, reporters, even the ref...
Im always fascinated by whatever the fashion styles were at the time, or how people talked at the time

Theirs nothing like two great fighters matching wits and physical ability in a boxing ring in my opnion . Rewatched the Leonard vs Benitez fight about a week ago, and the genius of both fighters in that fight is breath taking. The abilities of both fighters are showcased. The pure spectacle of Ali vs Frazier in Manila where both fighters , not close to what they were in prime refused to give an inch, and fought from pure heart and determination, and a refusal to lose to the other , And Eddie Futch humanly stopping the fight on pure love and caring about the safety of Frazier at the end of the 14thrd ( Could I have done that? Could you? that close to the end, though it was the absolute right thing to do) Showed as much about the man he was and as much as the two fighters literally trying to kill each other. Their is no other sport in my opinion worth rewatching again as a great boxing match. No Superbowl, no N.B.A championship, no World series or any of the other sports. Once I know the results of other sports, its really no need to rewatch it. Only boxing carries that type of reward for me at least to rewatch and relive the pure energy of a great fight between two great fighters.
