Why were big fights used to be shown on a weekday instead of a weekend?

I think the FOTC was on a Monday and the Showdown on a Wednesday
Was that normal back then? You would think it hurt the attendance and PPV buys(Closed Circuit back then) because people have to work the next day.

I have no idea but nothing would make Monday easier then say having the FOTC to look forward to lol Sunday wouldn't feel like the end, let the good times roll.

Hagler-Leonard was on a Monday as well. :nusenuse:
I think having big fights on the weekend just made more dollars and sense than to have it at the start of the week.

Since most people dislike weekdays, scheduling big fights during them gave working folks something exciting to look forward to after a long day, something to break up the routine and inject some energy into an otherwise dull workweek. You’ve got to think outside the box people!

Although I suppose this reasoning doesn't apply to the unemployed

Just to enliven the workweek, Prince Turki Alalshikh, friend to the working man, will pay a couple contenders to pulverize each other every Monday for your amusement.

    You're welcome, gentlemen.

Sunday during the day would be fun. But weekdays at night ? Yeah, that´s bad

Nay, this lies beyond even the Prince's power.
